A Little About Us

Yahoo's Membership Platforms team provides Identity, Payments, Privacy, and Customer Care services to all Yahoo verticals, including Mail, Sports, Finance, and News. Our Identity team utilizes an AI-driven development process and machine learning models to secure personal data for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. We operate at a massive scale, staying ahead of increasingly sophisticated, AI-assisted fraudsters to ensure our users' accounts remain a safe digital fortress.

The Role

We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the intersection of user security, AI-driven detection, and UX excellence. In this high-impact role, you will bridge the gap between complex fraud prevention and a seamless user journey. You are not just blocking threats; you are architecting an AI-augmented defense ecosystem that ensures legitimate users have effortless access while malicious actors are neutralized in real-time. As a leader, you will embody a "security-first" mindset, leveraging deep expertise in identity protocols and ML-based scoring to balance friction and growth across the Yahoo ecosystem.

Core Responsibilities & Impact

  • Strategic Architecture: Define the vision and end-to-end strategy for securing high-stakes user gateways, utilizing AI-driven insights and Zero Trust frameworks to distinguish between legitimate users and malicious actors.

  • Adversarial Defense: Partner with the "Paranoids" (Security) and Engineering to deploy defenses against AI-turbocharged attacks, including account takeover (ATO), credential stuffing, and session hijacking.

  • AI-Augmented Productivity: Identify and implement AI-driven efficiencies in your daily PM workflows—leveraging Generative AI tools to accelerate spec generation, data synthesis, and proactive threat modeling to increase team velocity.

  • UX Orchestration: Design empathetic remediation paths that use intelligent data and behavioral biometrics to protect users without hindering growth or retention.

  • Cross-Functional Influence: Serve as a subject matter expert to influence senior leadership and scale anti-fraud initiatives across all Yahoo business units, ensuring a unified security culture.

  • Metric Ownership: Drive measurable security outcomes, defining "North Star" metrics and using automated data analysis to quantify the ROI of security interventions and vendor signal performance.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 4 years focused on consumer identity, fraud detection, or cybersecurity at a massive scale.

  • Deep understanding of identity protocols (OAuth, OpenID Connect, FIDO Passkeys) and signal-sharing frameworks (CAEP/RISC).

  • Proficiency in leveraging Generative AI tools to accelerate data analysis, product discovery, and the synthesis of complex technical requirements.

  • Experience identifying and replacing repetitive manual tasks with AI-assisted or automated workflows within the product development lifecycle.

  • Exceptional ability to translate complex technical threats into clear business risks for executive stakeholders.

  • Proven leadership in high-pressure, "on-call" environments, with a reputation for decisive action during emerging security threats.

  • Commitment to "Impact First" methodologies, focusing on delivering security outcomes through rapid experimentation and AI-native innovation.

What Success Looks Like

  • Neutralize Advanced Threats: Reduce synthetic fraud and neutralize AI-generated attacks through a blend of internal ML enhancements and optimized vendor signal ecosystems.

  • Unified Security Culture: Influence the integration of identity defenses across all Yahoo verticals, creating a consistent, "security-first" user experience.

  • Operational Excellence: Deliver long-term roadmaps respected for technical feasibility, engineering capacity, and a clear path to AI-augmented oversight.

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
