What you'll do...Principal, Product Management Position Summary Walmart is seeking a Principal Product Manager to define product strategy and drive transformational outcomes across a portfolio of related products or a major product area. As a recognized product authority, you will influence organization-wide decisions through deep domain expertise, customer-centric thinking, data-driven insights, and cross-functional leadership. You will own complex customer problems, shape long-term product vision, and establish best practices that elevate the Product Management discipline across the organization. In this role, you will partner with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Operations, and Business leaders to deliver innovative, scalable solutions that create value for customers, members, and the business. What You'll Do Drive Customer Understanding and Problem Discovery
  • Build deep insights into customer and business needs through research, design thinking, journey mapping, and process analysis.
  • Establish scalable mechanisms for gathering customer feedback, analyzing product usage data, and identifying emerging opportunities.
  • Translate insights into prioritized problem statements and measurable customer outcomes.
  • Define product success metrics and ensure validation across customer, business, and product dimensions.
  • Influence portfolio and enterprise prioritization through data-backed opportunity sizing and strategic recommendations.
Define Product Vision and Strategy
  • Develop and evolve product strategies that align customer needs, business priorities, and technology investments.
  • Identify market opportunities and shape multi-year strategic initiatives across a product portfolio.
  • Apply Whole Product thinking and hypothesis-driven problem solving to guide product direction and investment decisions.
  • Communicate compelling product visions and strategic narratives to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Lead portfolio-level build, buy, and partner decisions and create scalable platforms or partnerships that deliver broad organizational value.
Lead Product Execution and Lifecycle Management
  • Develop and manage roadmaps spanning multiple products and initiatives.
  • Guide product development from concept through launch, adoption, and optimization.
  • Drive prioritization, dependency management, risk mitigation, and resource alignment across teams.
  • Establish and reinforce product management standards, governance models, and delivery excellence practices.
  • Own post-launch success metrics and ensure continuous optimization through telemetry, experimentation, and customer feedback.
Leverage Data, Analytics, and Emerging Technologies
  • Drive strategic product decisions through analytics, experimentation, and insight generation.
  • Utilize data and feature analytics to validate assumptions and optimize business outcomes.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and AI opportunities to inform future product investments and innovation strategies.
  • Assess technology feasibility, scalability, risks, and architectural implications of product decisions.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, measurement, and data fluency across product teams.
Influence Across the Enterprise
  • Lead complex cross-functional discussions and align stakeholders on strategic decisions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on product, technology, and business strategy.
  • Drive innovation through industry trend analysis, automation opportunities, and process improvements.
  • Mentor and develop product managers while contributing to organizational capability building and talent development.
  • Raise the strategic and technical standards of Product Management across Walmart.
What You'll Bring Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience developing and executing product strategies for complex digital products, platforms, or ecosystems.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of leveraging data to drive product decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex organizational environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA, Master's degree, or equivalent advanced education.
  • Experience managing large-scale product portfolios or platform-based products.
  • Deep understanding of modern product management practices, experimentation, analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Proven track record of mentoring product managers and developing product management best practices.
  • Experience in retail, eCommerce, marketplace, consumer technology, enterprise software, or related industries.

Bentonville, Arkansas US-30008: The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
San Bruno, California US-08848: The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
