Skylight is a technology startup building the OS of the family. We make Skylight Calendar, the smart calendar loved by millions of families (plus Wired and the Wirecutter). Our latest product is Calendar 2, which just launched to rave reviews.

Our mission is to connect loved ones by creating the world’s simplest products and services that improve family life. Our founders are former venture capitalists and serial entrepreneurs who have scaled this business to $300M+ in annual revenue while being completely bootstrapped and profitable. We get to grow a happy, healthy company focused on making products our customers love without investors breathing down our necks.

Buddy is Skylight's device for kids. It helps them see their day, follow their routines, and wind down at night, all without a screen that pulls them in. Buddy launched this year, families love it, and we believe it can become Skylight's next $100M product line.

We're looking for a Product Manager to own Buddy's software and to lead the search for what Buddy becomes next. You'll start by driving the roadmap for the Buddy device and the Buddy Plus subscription. Over time, about half your time will go to validating new Buddy products for other members of the family.

Our ideal candidate is an entrepreneur at heart who has taken real products from zero to one. You love talking to customers, you move fast from an idea to a prototype, and you're comfortable when hardware and software meet. You'll report to our VP of product, and you'll work closely with engineering, design, hardware, marketing and customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Own the Buddy roadmap. Decide what Buddy and Buddy Plus build next. Prioritize ruthlessly and scope a minimum lovable product so features ship on time.
  • Validate what's next. Find new customers and use cases for Buddy, then test them quickly with prototypes, customer conversations and small experiments before we invest.
  • Shape the hardware. Work with our hardware team to turn what you learn into requirements for future Buddy devices.
  • Set goals and measure them. Define the metrics for your work, track them, and use what you learn to steer the team.
  • Work across the company. Partner with engineering, design, marketing and customer service so launches go smoothly and families actually use what we ship.

Requirements
  • You have 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • You live in San Francisco, or are willing to relocate to San Francisco
  • You have a proven track record of building and owning impactful software products
  • You have a proven track record of taking new ideas from 0-1
  • You have a knack for finding the novel insight and tend to be right
  • You are endlessly curious and are on the edge of how product works in the AI-era
  • You are comfortable operating independently, spotting ambiguity and proposing solutions
  • You are data analytics savvy and take a data-driven approach to building product
  • You are a great communicator and can simplify the complex.

Benefits

Our competitive compensation package includes:

  • Competitive Salary + Equity Package
  • 401K matching
  • Wellness, learning, and home-office budgets
  • Health, Dental & Vision Medical Plans
  • Tremendous autonomy to set the direction of your work
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Company holidays on the first Friday of every month (Except November, December. & January)

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $200K-250K per year. This range reflects the compensation Skylight reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, which may include experience, qualifications, skills, education, geographic location, and internal equity. Skylight also offers benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and paid time off.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Skylight is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, Skylight will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
