We are seeking a Principal Project Manager to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, FL, to help lead rail/transit and other major initiatives across South Florida.
You’ll provide comprehensive management, coordination, and oversight for major BRT and rail transit corridor projects from planning and design through procurement, construction, and commissioning. The role ensures that technical requirements, public agency objectives, cost, schedule, safety, and quality goals are met while fostering effective collaboration among contractors, consultants, partner agencies, and community stakeholders. This position is designed for professionals who can balance project execution excellence with proactive support for market growth.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as Principal Project Manager overseeing design and delivery coordination for rail and transit projects.

  • Develop and manage design and procurement documentation, including Design Criteria Packages and RFQ/RFP materials.

  • Oversee design progress and facilitate coordination among multidisciplinary teams.

  • Support pursuit and delivery of the rail and transit contracts opportunities.

  • Provide technical insight and strategy for pursuits in collaboration with market and regional leadership.

  • Mentor Project Managers, Engineers and Planners, contributing to a supportive and high-performing team culture.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or related field.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Florida PE preferred); AICP also considered.

  • Strong experience in transit or rail design, construction and project management.

  • Significant experience with commuter rail, LRT, streetcar, BRT, or multimodal transportation projects preferred.

  • Familiarity with FTA capital project requirements, FDOT PD&E/NEPA processes, and federal funding oversight.

  • Understanding of traffic operations, transit signal priority, ITS, and BRT-specific infrastructure (stations, lanes, queue jumps).

  • Proven ability to manage large, multidisciplinary projects and coordinate with agencies and subconsultants.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
