The Principal Technical Product Manager is a senior strategic leader and technical authority responsible for shaping the long-term vision, technical roadmap, and competitive positioning of Jama Software’s product portfolio. This role is accountable for defining and executing the technical product strategy for a critical area of the business, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, customer needs, and evolving technology trends to deliver innovative, scalable, and differentiated solutions.

As a principal member of the Product organization, the Principal Technical Product Manager partners closely with Engineering, Architecture, Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Industry Solutions teams to drive impactful outcomes across the full product lifecycle. This role leads our most strategic technical initiatives and translates them into customer value for our field organization.

What You'll Do: 
  • Lead the end-to-end technical product strategy and roadmap for a core domain of the Jama Software platform, ensuring alignment with company objectives, technical feasibility, and market opportunities.
  • Drive high-impact technical product innovation by identifying emerging technologies, market shifts, customer pain points, and competitive dynamics, and translate insights into compelling technical product strategies.
  • Champion strategic technical investments by developing robust business cases, technical product requirements, and multi-year vision decks to guide executive and cross-functional alignment.
  • Partner with Engineering, Architecture, and Design leadership to influence technical direction, prioritize complex trade-offs, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions.
  • Represent the voice of the customer and market by cultivating trusted relationships with strategic customers and translating technical insights into actionable opportunities.
  • Collaborate across the organization to define technical success metrics, operationalize product KPIs, and continuously measure impact to inform future technical investments.
  • Serve as a technical thought leader and mentor within the Product team, guiding more junior product managers and contributing to the evolution of technical product management practices and frameworks.
  • Communicate technical roadmaps, priorities, and vision across stakeholders, including executive leadership, ensuring alignment and engagement across departments.
What You'll Bring: 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software Product Management or related technical roles, with at least 3 years in a senior or strategic technical leadership capacity.
  • Expert-level experience in enterprise software, including both Cloud/SaaS and on-premises deployment models, with a strong technical background.
  • Demonstrated measurable success in launching and managing technically complex products or product features to drive customer delight and revenue growth.
  • Experience in Agile, Lean, and iterative product development practices, with a strong ability to break down complex technical problems and guide cross-functional teams through ambiguity.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, APIs, integration patterns, and modern technology stacks.
  • Proven ability to actively engage with customers and technical stakeholders to gather feedback and deeply understand their needs, ensuring that product development efforts are consistently aligned with customer preferences and technical requirements.
  • Proficient in utilizing comprehensive data analytics and metrics to assess product performance, meticulously track key performance indicators (KPIs), and adeptly inform strategic technical decision-making processes.
  • Highly skilled in using qualitative and quantitative data to drive prioritization, shape technical strategy, and assess product-market fit.
  • Demonstrated skill in fostering clear and effective communication channels within the organization, adeptly facilitating cross-functional collaboration between technical and non-technical teams to ensure seamless alignment on product vision, goals, and priorities.
  • Experience working directly with customers and partners in an outbound sales capacity.

  • Deep understanding of technical integration patterns across SaaS ecosystems and third-party tools that drive scalable innovation.
  • Experience with modern software development practices, cloud infrastructure, and security best practices.
  • Industry experience in regulated domains (e.g., medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or financial services), with a strong understanding of systems engineering principles.
