About The Team
The Atlassian Global Experiences team is looking for a Principle Product Designer to help us mature our cloud platform through common components across the Atlassian suite of tools. You'll report to the Head of Global Experiences while working with a vibrant, and globally distributed creative team to create impact and delight while pushing the boundaries of our platform and measuring your impact along the way.
Your role as a Principle Product Designer is to be a craft leader for the GlobeX design team setting the visual direction for our platform components, UI and UX patterns. We are looking for strong visual storytelling with a portfolio that shows an attention to design detail. We work in a collaborative environment so your intellectual curiosity and strategic thinking will be a plus.
In this role, you will
  • Be a craft expert who elevates the creative bar across our platform apps and global navigation through your skills in visual, interaction and systems design.
  • Set design direction and vision through crafting cohesive, visually engaging designs that balance function with form and employ grids, layouts, and advanced compositions to create delightful user experiences
  • Collaborate with other Lead/Principal designers across Atlassian, to harmonize design components, establish common patterns and drive visual cohesion across our platform.
  • Balance leadership and hands-on execution by driving your own strategic initiatives while mentoring and coaching other team members to deliver high-quality designs.
  • Work in tight partnership with our Engineering Leads and cross-functional partners to influence our roadmap and next highest opportunities.
  • Advocate inclusivity in all design work, championing standards and best practices across the team and organization.
  • Use design research and data insights to inform and validate your work, setting up iterative testing processes to continuously refine and improve designs.

  • 12+ years experience in product design with a focus on Enterprise SaaS, complex systems or scalable design solutions.
  • Exceptional skill in visual design principles including grids, layout, typography, color and composition, and the ability to create cohesive, visually engaging designs.
  • Exceptional visual, verbal and written skills.
  • Confidence in presenting and articulating your work to peers, partners, and leadership.
  • A shared belief that collaboration improves creativity, with experience collaborating with product and engineering teams to align business and technical decisions with the user experience.
  • A track record of coaching and mentoring designers to raise craft quality and foster a growth mindset.
  • Familiarity with design systems, and experience contributing to their evolution and scaling within a complex organization.
  • Proficiency in Figma and prototyping software, with the ability to co-design and iterate with cross-functional teams.

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $216,900 - $283,175
Zone B: $195,300 - $254,975
Zone C: $180,900 - $236,175
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
