The Role

Forge is seeking a Private Markets Research Associate / Research Manager to join its Research & Insights team. This individual will help produce proprietary research and market intelligence powered by Forge's unique transaction, pricing, and liquidity data.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with exceptional communication skills. They are comfortable working with large datasets, conducting quantitative analysis, and translating complex findings into clear, actionable insights for investors. The role will support the development of research publications, market commentary, and thought leadership for retail investors, financial advisors, wealth managers, and institutional clients.

This is an opportunity to help shape how investors understand an increasingly important segment of the capital markets.

Responsibilities

Research & Market Analysis

  • Analyze proprietary Forge data to identify trends in private company valuations, liquidity, investor activity, and market performance.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis across industries, sectors, and private market cohorts.
  • Develop research frameworks, market indicators, and analytical tools that improve understanding of private market dynamics.
  • Monitor developments across private markets, venture capital, growth equity, IPO markets, and public equities to identify relevant investment implications.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of proprietary benchmarks, indices, and performance metrics.

Content & Thought Leadership

  • Produce recurring research publications.
  • Translate data and analysis into compelling narratives tailored to different investor audiences.
  • Create charts, visualizations, presentation materials, and market commentary for clients, partners, media, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Client Experience teams to develop data-driven thought leadership.
  • Respond to requests for market intelligence from internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Contribute to research initiatives that support new products, investment solutions, and strategic priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • 3-7 years of experience in investment research, private markets, equity research, market intelligence, financial data, or related fields.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with experience interpreting large datasets.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with Python or similar analytical tools.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills, including experience producing research reports, market commentary, or investment-related content.
  • Ability to distill complex information into concise, data-driven insights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience covering venture capital, growth equity, private equity, or alternative investments.
  • Familiarity with private company valuation methodologies and secondary market dynamics.
  • CFA designation or progress toward charter.
  • Experience presenting research findings to investment professionals, advisors, or clients.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, portfolio construction, and investment strategy.

Success in the Role
Successful candidates will become trusted experts on Forge's proprietary data, contribute meaningfully to flagship publications and investor communications, and help establish Forge as a leading source of private market research and intelligence for advisors, institutions, and individual investors.
Key outputs include: research reports, market outlooks, recurring market updates, thematic studies, proprietary indices and benchmarks, client presentations, webinars, and media-facing thought leadership.

For residents of San Francisco, CA the annual salary range for this role is $142,000 - $180,000 + annual bonus. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, bonus, and other factors.
