About Middesk:

Middesk makes it easier for businesses to work together. Since 2018, we’ve been transforming business identity verification, replacing slow, manual processes with seamless access to complete, up-to-date data. Our platform helps companies across industries confidently verify business identities, onboard customers faster, and reduce risk at every stage of the customer lifecycle.

Middesk came out of Y Combinator, is backed by Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners, and was recently named to Forbes Fintech 50 List.

About The Role:

As a Product Designer at Middesk, you'll play a pivotal role in helping businesses uphold strong compliance standards and manage risk with confidence. You'll design intuitive experiences that empower customers to make informed compliance and risk decisions in highly regulated industries. Working closely with Product and Engineering partners, you'll own the end-to-end design process from discovery through delivery, bringing a balance of craft, systems thinking, and curiosity to every stage.

We follow a hybrid work model, and for this role, there is an expectation of 2 days per week in our SF office. Candidates should be based within a commutable distance, as we believe in the value of in-person collaboration and building strong team connections while also supporting flexibility where possible.

What You'll Do:
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to refine problems, explore solutions, and deliver designs that strike the right balance between customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

  • Own the end-to-end design process, from early discovery to launch, using design best practices to drive impact at every stage.

  • Turn dense or ambiguous data into experiences that build trust and clarity for our customers.

  • Use storytelling to bring clarity and meaning to complex business identity and risk concepts, helping others understand the "why" behind your work.

  • Shape and evolve Middesk's design system and visual language to ensure consistency, accessibility, and craft across all products.

What We're Looking For:
  • Over 8+ years of in house product design experience delivering impactful solutions for B2B products, with direct experience designing for platforms that work with business or consumer data.

  • A strong portfolio of work demonstrating the ability to turn complex or abstract customer challenges into simple, intuitive solutions.

  • Product-minded and can collaborate closely with PMs to help frame problems, scope work, and drive decisions rather than waiting for fully defined requirements.

  • Able to navigate and interpret complex data and reason about how best to surface it in the user experience. Sound judgment about how data is represented is core to the craft.

  • A systems thinker who bridges user experience and API-driven systems, with familiarity in developer tooling such as SDK configuration, setup flows, and technical onboarding.

  • Deeply familiar with LLM-powered development tooling (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) and able to use it to build end-to-end prototypes with little to no engineering support.

  • Strong communication skills, able to clearly articulate design decisions and advocate for customers' needs.

  • A proactive approach to advancing work, taking initiative to move projects forward and keep teams aligned through changing priorities.

  • Proficiency in design tools, including prototyping, collaborating in shared design files, and effectively leveraging and maintaining design system components.

Nice to Haves:
  • Working experience in product management, front-end development, or engineering.
