Midstream is an AI-native financial operating system for health systems, founded by experienced entrepreneurs and backed by top-tier investors. We give finance, supply chain, and managed care teams real-time visibility into where margin is at risk, with a precise action plan for capturing it before it's gone.

Purpose-built for healthcare's complexity, Midstream transforms structured, unstructured, and external data into instant, contract-aware insights that drive smarter decisions. Our AI agents unify spend and revenue operations across the full back-office, learning and adapting with every interaction and delivering always-on intelligence that no point solution or one-off engagement can match.

We're compressing months to minutes and turning post-period hindsight into in-the-moment foresight. The tempo of healthcare finance is changing, and Midstream is leading it.

Opportunity

Midstream is building the financial AI platform that helps health systems identify, validate, and realize millions of dollars in financial opportunities across supply chain, pharmacy, and managed care.

We're looking for a Product Designer who is excited to solve some of healthcare's most complex operational problems. You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and our health system partners to transform fragmented, manual workflows into intuitive, AI-powered experiences that help organizations make faster, better financial decisions.

This is a role for someone who loves owning product experiences from end to end. You'll help shape product strategy by understanding how customers work, uncovering opportunities through research, and translating complex enterprise workflows into intuitive, scalable experiences. You'll own the design process from discovery through launch and iteration, helping define how AI-native enterprise software should feel.

As our second designer, your primary focus will be building exceptional product experiences. At the same time, we're still an early-stage company where everyone contributes beyond the boundaries of their role when it creates the greatest impact. Whether supporting a product launch, improving customer-facing experiences, or helping communicate complex ideas more clearly, you'll bring a thoughtful design perspective wherever it helps move the company forward.

As one of the early designers at Midstream, you'll have the opportunity to shape not only the product, but how design contributes to the company as we scale.

What you'll be doingOwn end-to-end product design

Lead the complete design lifecycle—from customer research and problem definition to wireframes, prototypes, visual design, launch, and continuous iteration. Partner closely with Product and Engineering to deliver experiences that solve meaningful customer problems and create measurable business value.

Deeply understand our customers

Build a deep understanding of Midstream's business, our health system partners, and the operational challenges they face. Conduct user research, validate assumptions directly with customers, and continuously incorporate feedback into product decisions.

Design intuitive enterprise workflows

Transform complex data, financial processes, and AI-powered insights into elegant user experiences. Design workflows that serve a diverse set of enterprise users while balancing usability, flexibility, and scalability.

Shape our design system

Contribute to the strategy, architecture, and governance of Midstream's design system and component library. Create scalable patterns that enable consistency across products while supporting rapid product development as the company grows.

Design for AI-native products

Help define how AI integrates naturally into enterprise workflows. Design experiences that build user trust, communicate AI-generated insights effectively, and thoughtfully balance automation with human decision-making.

Contribute where design creates the greatest impact

As an early member of the design team, you'll occasionally apply your design expertise beyond the product when it helps the company move faster. Whether supporting a product launch, improving customer-facing experiences, or contributing to another high-impact initiative, you'll help ensure Midstream delivers thoughtful, cohesive experiences wherever customers interact with us.

Who you areData-driven

You use customer research, analytics, and measurable outcomes to guide design decisions. You know when to trust your instincts and when to validate assumptions through evidence.

Ownership mindset

You don't wait for someone else to answer the hard questions. You proactively engage with customers, collaborate deeply with Product and Engineering, challenge assumptions, and take responsibility for delivering meaningful outcomes.

Systems thinker

You naturally think beyond individual screens and consider how workflows, components, information architecture, and interactions come together into a cohesive product experience.

AI fluent

You understand the fundamentals of modern AI and machine learning well enough to design practical, trustworthy user experiences around them. You're excited by the opportunity to help define what great AI-native enterprise software looks like.

Bias to action

You thrive in fast-moving startup environments where learning, iteration, and shipping matter. You know when to sweat the details and when to move quickly, always balancing craftsmanship with progress.

Team-first

You care more about company impact than rigid job boundaries. While product design is your craft, you're motivated by solving the highest-impact problems alongside your teammates. You embrace the variety that comes with building an early-stage company and enjoy contributing wherever your design expertise can create the most value.

What we're looking for
  • 5–7 years of experience designing digital products, ideally within enterprise SaaS or workflow-intensive applications

  • Experience owning end-to-end product design, from user research through implementation and iteration

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating thoughtful UX, interaction design, and visual design across complex enterprise products

  • Experience simplifying data-rich workflows and designing for multiple user personas

  • Experience conducting customer research and translating insights into product decisions

  • Proficiency with Figma and modern design and prototyping tools

  • Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers and Engineers throughout the product development lifecycle

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Curiosity about AI-powered products and enthusiasm for designing the next generation of enterprise software

  • Experience in high-growth startups or environments where adaptability and cross-functional collaboration are essential is a plus

Why this role matters

Healthcare organizations manage billions of dollars through complex operational workflows, yet many of the tools they rely on remain fragmented, manual, and difficult to use.

Every design decision at Midstream has the potential to help health systems uncover millions of dollars in financial opportunities, reduce administrative burden, and make better operational decisions.

As one of our first designers, you'll play a foundational role in defining how AI transforms enterprise healthcare operations while helping establish the design culture, product quality, and customer experience that will shape Midstream for years to come.
