About the role

Midjourney is an independent research lab exploring new mediums of thought and expanding the imaginative powers of the human species. We are a small, self-funded team focused on design, human infrastructure, and AI.

We're looking for a Product Designer to help build out experiences across Midjourney projects.

You'll work closely with design and engineering to design and ship everything from product launches and feature pages to marketing moments and entirely new experiences.

This is a hands-on role. We expect you to be as comfortable refining typography and layout as you are shipping a page. If your favorite part of the job is making beautiful things that people actually use, keep reading.

What you'll do
  • Design and build products from concept through launch.

  • Work closely with design and engineering on new features and launches.

  • You care about the details—typography, layout, motion, responsiveness, loading states, and performance—that make an experience great.

  • Contribute visual assets for marketing.

  • Prototype ideas quickly using Figma, Claude, Cursor, and whatever tools helps move the work forward.

You might be a fit if
  • You have 2–4 years of experience designing and building for the web.

  • You move fluidly across the full design process, from early concept through final production.

  • You have an instinct for the details that make interfaces feel considered: type, spacing, motion, and how they all work together.

  • You know enough HTML and CSS to work effectively with engineers—or to build parts of the experience yourself.

  • You're comfortable using tools like Claude Code and Cursor as part of your workflow.

  • You'd rather prototype than make a presentation.

  • Work > ego

Logistics
  • Full-time.

  • Hybrid in San Francisco or New York.

  • Compensation: $172,572–$195,220 + benefits.

To apply

A portfolio is required.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
