About Numeric

Numeric is building the modern accounting & finance platform. Companies today depend on Numeric's workflow and data platform to collaborate, monitor and analyze data, and share insights about their financials.

We believe an organization with up-to-date, accurate, rich financial data is empowered to move faster and smarter. Unfortunately, the tools and systems have not been keeping up. The complexity of work and granularity of data has ballooned and old, slow software and simplistic tools only facilitate the manual work; they do little to solve the fundamental challenges of accounting and finance.

As a product-focused company, we know that a great product and engineering team can build the tools to give our users superpowers. We work to free people from the manual and the tedious, and to bring delight to their work.

Numeric is backed by Founders Fund, Menlo Ventures, IVP, 8VC, Long Journey Ventures, and others as well as founders from Ramp, Segment, and more. We just closed a 28M Series A and are growing quickly!

About the role

We're growing rapidly and are looking for a Senior Product Designer who loves crafting elegant user experiences, thrives on complex challenges, and builds in a systematic, scalable manner.

As a company that champions design as an essential differentiator, you'll be a key pillar of our team with the autonomy to own and shape design direction for the entire product experience. You'll be a force multiplier who knows how to move fast and is excited to distill complex workflows and data intensive applications into intuitive, delightful experiences. You will inform the role design plays at Numeric and how the team grows with the business.

How we work

🐎 We get prototypes in front of customers quickly and ship features frequently. We believe this is the best way to learn & iterate.

🧩 We invest in common building blocks that allow us to build powerful and customizable features fast and look to constantly improve them.

🏰 We work closely with our engineers to discuss tradeoffs and advocate for a quality user experience.

🗝️ We empower everyone to have the ownership and tools to do their best work and we rigorously protect the team's time so we can maximize our impact.

What you'll do
  • Understand our users and their pain-points, interfacing with our customers & conducting user research, interviews, and usability testing as part of your methodology

  • Craft intuitive design sketches, end-to-end prototypes, and high-fidelity flows that are simple and elegant, and solve the most pressing problems our customers are experiencing

  • Define and own a scalable and component-based design system and design function, enabling fast execution & future scaling of a broader product and design team

  • Work closely with Product & Engineering to ensure we consistently translate complex technical architectures into simple and intuitive user experiences

  • Look for creative and innovative ideas inspired by analogous verticals and past experiences, inspiring the team through amazing execution

About you
  • 5+ years as a full-spectrum product designer: you have a deep knowledge of best practices in user experience research, information architecture, and visual/interaction design. Experience building end-to-end prototypes with Figma and other best-in-class design tools.

  • Passion for great design: you create product experiences that are beautiful and functional (with the portfolio to show for it), with an eye and for clean visual aesthetics optimized for user experience.

  • Strong systems thinking: you have an affinity for design systems with consistent use of design patterns, colors, & typography, and are excited to participate in technical discussions and advocate for exceptional user experience with keen awareness of tradeoffs and bias for shipping.

  • First-principles thinking: you can deconstruct complex problems and craft elegant solutions.

  • Startup mindset: you love jumping in at the 0->1 phase, you’re biased towards quickly launching product, iterating, and you thrive in ambiguous, rapidly-evolving environments. You're a strong, independent individual contributor with acute leadership skills.

  • Ability to think across levels of abstraction with technical depth: Familiarity with data intensive products, product architecture, and/or experience as a software engineer. You can translate effectively between user needs and technical realities.
