Build the data infrastructure for robots operating in the real world.

Robotics is moving from research labs into production across factories, warehouses, vehicles, and field deployments. When robots fail, behave unexpectedly, or need to be improved, engineers rely on data to understand what actually happened.

At Foxglove, we build the observability, visualization, and data infrastructure that makes that possible. Our tools are used by robotics and autonomous systems teams to ingest, store, query, replay, and analyze massive volumes of multimodal sensor data from live systems and from production fleets.

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join the Foxglove design team. You’ll work closely with engineers, product managers, and other designers to improve and expand our web and desktop applications. You’ll contribute across the product design process, from early exploration and prototyping to polished UI and shipped features, while developing a deep understanding of our users: engineers building autonomous vehicles and robots.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design features and improvements across Foxglove’s web and desktop products.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to shape product solutions.

  • Turn complex technical workflows into clear, intuitive user experiences.

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI to communicate design ideas.

  • Participate in user research and incorporate feedback from robotics engineers.

  • Iterate quickly based on product goals, user insights, and technical constraints.

  • Contribute to our design system and maintain consistency across the product.

We're looking for someone who
  • Has +2 years of product design experience.

  • Has a portfolio demonstrating strong UX, interaction design, and visual craft.

  • Is comfortable designing technical or data-rich interfaces.

  • Is proficient in Figma and AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code.

  • Enjoys working closely with engineers and cross-functional teams.

  • Communicates design thinking clearly and welcomes feedback.

  • Is excited to learn about robotics, developer tools, or complex technical products.

Bonus points
  • Experience designing developer tools or technical products.

  • Experience with data visualization or complex interactive systems.

  • Interest in robotics, autonomy, or machine learning.

  • Ability to participate in occasional in-person user research in the Bay Area.

What we offer
  • $300 monthly budget towards commuter benefits or building your personal workspace (remote only)

  • Competitive equity grant in a Series B company

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Term Life insurance coverage at 100% for employees and 75% for dependents

  • 401(k) matching up to 4%

  • 4 weeks vacation, plus holidays and winter break

  • All expenses paid company off-sites 1-2× per year

Why Join Us
  • Impact: Own growth at a fast-growing, high-leverage moment for the company.

  • Mission: Accelerate the development of the next generation of robotics and embodied AI.

  • Team: Work with world-class engineers, designers, and researchers passionate about open-source and developer tools.

  • Ownership: Drive initiatives end-to-end, with high autonomy and visibility.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
