Who Are We

Voxel is building the future of Computer Vision and Machine Learning for operations, risk, and safety. We use computer vision and AI to enable existing security cameras to automatically detect hazards and high-risk activities, keep people safe and drive operational efficiencies. Our technology addresses the key cost drivers for workers’ compensation, general liability, and property damage, which cost US employers over $500 billion annually.

The Role

We're hiring our second product designer. You'll work directly with our Head of Product Design and a small product team that sits close to engineering and even closer to customers. This isn't a role where you'll get a spec and push pixels. You'll be visiting customer sites, building prototypes, and designing experiences that make complex operations feel simple.

We're looking for two things: a builder and someone obsessed with real people using the thing.

What success looks like
  • You've shipped something real in your first month that a customer has reacted to.

  • You're in customer conversations regularly and bringing back insights that shape what we build.

  • Engineers love working with you because you make their jobs easier, not harder.

  • You're building faster than anyone thought a designer could.

What we're looking for
  • You're endlessly curious — about how warehouses actually run, about what AI tools can do today that they couldn't last month, about why a customer does something the way they do. You ask smart questions and you really listen to the answers.

  • You've built something with AI tools — Claude Code, Cursor, Replit, v0, whatever. A real thing that solves a real problem, even a small one. Show us the product decisions you made and why.

  • You can sketch an idea on a whiteboard and explain the logic. Visual craft matters, but thinking and clear communication comes first.

  • You think about how a feature fits the whole product, not just the screen you're designing.

  • You're comfortable with ambiguity. We're a Series B startup shaping the next phase of the product. You'll be shaping it too, not executing someone else's vision.

What we're not looking for
  • Someone whose primary tool is still Figma.

  • Design process devotees. We care about outcomes, not ceremonies.

Qualifications
  • ~3–5 years of experience (flexible). We care far more about what you’ve built than how long you’ve been building.

Why Join Us?

Join a visionary team revolutionizing safety and operations, directly impacting the well-being of millions of essential workers. This is your chance to build an extraordinary business and foster a vibrant company culture that demands your absolute best. Alongside AI experts, experienced entrepreneurs, and passionate problem-solvers, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the company's growth trajectory and market position.

Benefits:
  • Extensive / generous health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Highly competitive paid parental leave and support system

  • Ownership in the business through an Equity Incentive Plan

  • Generous paid time off and / or flexible work arrangements

  • Daily meals in-office, vibrant company events, team-building

  • 401K retirement plan, HSA options, pre-tax commuter benefits

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
