We’re looking for a Product Designer to define how operators, investigators, and enterprise teams experience Variance. You will own core product design across complex workflows, translating highly technical AI capabilities into clear, intuitive, and trustworthy user experiences. You will work closely with founders, product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to design products that help customers make faster, better, and more confident decisions in high-stakes risk environments.
This is an in-person position. Our office is located in San Francisco, CA.
What You Bring4–8 years of experience designing products at high-growth B2B SaaS, AI, data, infrastructure, risk, compliance, fraud, security, or enterprise software companies
Exceptional ability to simplify complex technical workflows into intuitive, elegant product experiences
Experience owning product design end-to-end, from user research and problem definition through wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, and shipped product
Strong systems thinking and comfort designing for complex information architecture, workflows, permissions, data, and decision-making interfaces
Ability to work cross-functionally across product, engineering, design, sales, and leadership with high ownership
Excellent visual, interaction, and written communication skills
Comfort operating in ambiguity and helping build design practices from 0 to 1
Familiarity with AI/ML, fraud, compliance, risk, Trust & Safety, case management, investigations, or enterprise operations preferred, but not necessary
Own product design for core workflows across the Variance platform
Translate complex AI, data, and investigation workflows into simple, trusted, and highly usable product experiences
Partner closely with founders, product, and engineering to define product strategy, user flows, and feature requirements
Create wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, and design systems components that help the team move quickly and consistently
Conduct customer and user research to understand operator workflows, pain points, and decision-making needs
Design interfaces that help users review cases, investigate risk, understand AI outputs, and take action with confidence
Collaborate with go-to-market teams to ensure product experiences support enterprise customer needs and sales conversations
Help establish Variance’s design culture, principles, and processes as the company scales
Category-Defining Product: Work on mission-critical fraud and compliance challenges with cutting-edge AI
Early and High-Leverage Role: Help define the product experience and build the design function from the ground up
Real Market Pull: Variance supports major enterprise customers with large budgets, urgent pain, and significant expansion potential
