About Unlimited:

Unlimited is an AI-native engineering and construction company reimagining how large-scale physical infrastructure gets built – from factories to power plants to entire industrial systems. We’re already delivering real projects with customers across multiple industries, using our AI-first engineering platform to design an order of magnitude faster than industry norms.

Backed by a $12M seed round from Andreessen Horowitz, CIV, Bessemer, and other leading investors, we’re building a small, engineering-led team to scale what’s already working and to take on one of the most important challenges of the coming decades.

About the Role:
We’re looking for electrical engineers who take ownership from initial design through construction and want to help build the product that will automate those workflows. You’ll design the systems that power and control the physical world, from substations and switchgear to transformers, MCCs, motor and drive systems, and the electrical integration of process and mechanical equipment across mining, critical minerals, power plants, data centers, and advanced manufacturing.

This isn’t a traditional role. You’ll work inside our AI-native engineering framework, where the tools learn from your decisions and encode your judgment into reusable models that improve with every project. The platform you help build will shape how Unlimited designs, analyzes, and energizes industrial systems at scale. The right person sees this not as project-by-project electrical design but as a chance to define the system that transforms how electrical engineering gets done across the entire built world.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead design, integration, and commissioning for medium and low voltage power systems, including substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, cable routing, and grounding networks.

  • Define and design electrical connections for motors, drives, instrumentation, and process equipment across full facilities.

  • Develop one-lines, load flow and short-circuit studies, protection coordination, and equipment sizing for complex industrial systems.

  • Work closely with controls, instrumentation, and mechanical teams to integrate power and control systems into complete plant designs.

  • Participate in projects from early concept through field commissioning, validating automated design outputs against real-world conditions.

  • Use and improve Unlimited’s AI-powered engineering tools to automate electrical design, simulation, and coordination.

  • Support construction and start-up activities, resolving field issues and ensuring safe, reliable energization.

  • Identify opportunities for standardization and modularization of electrical designs across projects.

You Have:

  • A strong foundation in electrical engineering, with experience designing, integrating, or commissioning power and control systems for factories, process plants, data centers, or other large industrial facilities.

  • Expertise in one or more of: medium/high-voltage distribution, motor and drive systems, grounding, load flow analysis, or protection coordination.

  • Experience integrating electrical with controls, instrumentation, and mechanical systems.

  • Familiarity with electrical design tools (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, Revit, or similar) and an interest in how these workflows can be automated or reimagined.

  • Understanding of construction and commissioning environments, including field testing, energization, and safety practices.

  • Curiosity about AI and how intelligent systems can extend engineering capability.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines to solve cross-functional challenges.

  • Comfort working under tight deadlines and ambiguity in a fast-paced, high-output environment.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites and projects as needed.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
