Build and improve web and mobile consumer features end-to-end using React and TypeScript. Own product problems from discovery through production, analyze funnels and user behavior, design and interpret large-scale A/B tests, and use data to improve creator and player acquisition, engagement, and retention. The role combines hands-on frontend engineering, product strategy, analytics, experimentation, and agentic workflow automation.

Astrocade is an AI technology company building super-intelligence for the interactive world, delivered through a breakout consumer platform.

Today's frontier models can write, reason, and generate video. None can build a world you can step into and act on. Interactive world models are one of the defining problems on the path to ASI, and the foundation of the next great consumer platform. Interactivity is the holy grail of content: not something you watch, but something that responds to you. We're further ahead than anyone: the only team building the intelligence and the platform together, and both are already live.

Our social UGC platform lets anyone create and play interactive experiences through natural language. And it's one of the fastest-growing consumer products in the world, with over 30 million users in just months since launch. Creators bring to life games, companions that remember and grow with them, learning experiences that adapt like a great tutor, and social worlds built with friends. The platform also powers our research with data no video dataset contains: millions of creators prompting and refining gives us paired data of human intent and the worlds that fulfill it, and every play session produces ground-truth, action-labeled interaction data at scale. All of it flows back into our models, and research ships to real players in days, spinning a flywheel no one else can build.

We are a small team from Google Research, Meta, FAIR, Character.ai, and Stanford, led alongside Fei-Fei Li, with frontier-scale compute and direct ownership of core model problems. We are backed by Sequoia Capital, Google, NVIDIA, and luminaries including Eric Schmidt and Jerry Yang.

The next foundational AI company will be built where world models meet a billion players. We're the rare place where frontier research and a breakout consumer platform are one company, and where your work ships to millions, not to a paper. Come build it with us.

About the Role

The best consumer products aren't built by handing specs across a wall, they're built by people who own the problem end-to-end. As a Product Engineer, you'll be that person: part builder, part product manager, fully accountable for outcomes. Astrocade is two sides of a platform that have to grow together: creators need a reason to build here and players need a reason to stay. You'll find the friction on both sides, decide what to build, ship it with your own hands, and measure whether it worked. This is a hands-on IC role with a clear path to more ownership as we scale. If you're excited about this role but don't meet every single qualification, we'd still love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do
  • Build multi-platform features and user journeys end-to-end in React and TypeScript, from prototype to production

  • Develop and improve core frontend architecture for web and mobile, from the game feed to our creator experience

  • Design, run, and interpret A/B tests at real consumer scale (tens of millions of users)

  • Spend time diving into funnels and data around acquisition, activation, engagement and retention for both creators and players, and and turn analytics into hypotheses, experiments, and shipped improvements

  • Think in systems: understand how a change to one surface ripples through creator and player loops, and catch unintended consequences before they ship

  • Use and build agentic tools to automate your own workflows, uncover insights, and scale what works

  • Shape product strategy with data-backed conviction and collaborate with a diverse set of colleagues to make Astrocade better

You’d Be a Great Fit If You:
  • Have 2+ years of engineering experience on products that serve many stakeholders, with real ownership of product outcomes

  • Have worked in either React or React Native and are comfortable building large features independently

  • Are fluent with product analytics - funnels, cohorts, retention curves, experiment design - and tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, or custom SQL queries

  • Enjoy digging into data to understand user behavior

  • Have carried projects from ambiguous idea to measured impact, end-to-end

  • Communicate and document clearly: you can explain the why, lay out the tradeoffs, and leave behind decisions and learnings others can build on

  • Enjoy both product-thinking and solving hard engineering problems

Bonus Points:
  • Experience growing a two-sided marketplace, creator platform, or consumer social product

  • Familiarity with viral growth mechanics and community-led growth loops

  • Experience running growth or experimentation programs at a high-growth consumer company

  • Background in data science or a history of building your own analytics pipelines

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
