Who We Are

Our mission is to make the world programmable. Sight is one of the key ways we understand the world, and soon this will be true for the software we use, too.

We’re building the tools, community, and resources needed to make the world programmable with artificial intelligence. Roboflow simplifies building and using computer vision models. Today, over 1M+ developers, including those from half the Fortune 100, use Roboflow’s machine learning open source and hosted tools. That includes counting cells to accelerate cancer research, improving construction site safety, digitizing floor plans, preserving coral reef populations, guiding drone flight, and much more.

Roboflow is supported by great customers and investors, having raised over 63 million from Y Combinator, Google Ventures, Craft Ventures, Sam Altman, Lachy Groom, amongst other leading software investors.

Roboflowers are passionate builders who value ownership, accountability, and a bias toward action. We're curious, hands-on with new tech, and prefer showing our work over talking about it. Many of us have a founder mindset and thrive in our high-autonomy environment.

What You'll Do

This is a senior role for someone who has already shipped products real people love and is ready to own entire product surfaces from idea to impact.

You'll be tasked with a large variety of projects. We're still small enough that engineers are expected to have a wide skillset and go from idea conception to feature success. We're looking for product engineers, people whose instinct is to ask "what should we build and why" before "how do we build it." You're technical enough to ship the whole thing yourself, but your superpower is product judgment, user empathy, and taste. You have strong opinions about product details — loading states, empty states, the copy on a button, and you notice friction others miss.

Most of the things we work on are parts of the core product (an end-to-end pipeline for building computer vision projects spanning image ingestion to annotation to training and deployment), but from time to time we're also working on things like integrating marketing and sales tools, automating internal processes, and open source projects.

You'll help set the roadmap, not receive it. You'll be expected to advocate for which projects are the highest priority, contribute directly to strategy decisions, and bring engineers and users along with you. If you need a rigid list of tasks spelled out in a multi-month roadmap, this role won't be a good fit.

Example Projects

  • Identifying a flow our users quietly hate and redesigning it end-to-end.

  • Next-generation model-assisted labeling.

  • Streamlining our onboarding flow.

  • Expanding our annotation tool to support new functionality (like polygonal annotations for image segmentation).

  • Creating a filtering interface so our users can mix and match their images based on metadata like the time of day they were captured, the GPS location, or custom tags they've applied.

  • Integrating the core app with external APIs for things like outsourcing annotation tasks and analyzing deployed model performance.

  • Deeper integrations with our other products like Roboflow Universe and our REST API.

Who You'll Be Working With

Our team of ~120 attracts talent like executives that wanted to return to building, founders with a 100M+ exit, Roboflow users turned team members, open source contributors, a cyclist who biked across the United States, prolific high school hackers, a CTO from 100+ engineering organization, amongst many exceptional others.

You will directly be working with our Engineering Lead and a team of Engineers.

Where You'll Work

Roboflow is fully distributed. We currently have Hubs in New York City and San Francisco (and plan to open more as we grow density in new cities). We provide opportunities (like team onsites in different cities) and resources (like a $4000/yr travel stipend) to work in person with other team members as much as you'd like, while also supporting remote team members. You can work from one of our Hubs (we offer a relocation bonus), work from home, work at co-working spaces, etc. We want you to work where you work best!

When You'll Work

Roboflow primarily operates during the daytime hours in the US and there are some synchronous meetings you’ll be expected to attend each week. Apart from that, we have a flexible schedule that allows you to work collaboratively with other team members and asynchronously when needed.

What You'll Receive

To determine your salary, we use a number of market and data-driven salary sources. We review all salaries every six months to ensure we stay in line with the market.

💰 The target compensation for this role is $165,000 - $195,000.

📈 In addition to our cash compensation, we offer generous perks and benefits. Below are some of the highlights:

  • $4000/yr Travel Stipend to travel anywhere anytime to work alongside other Roboflowers

  • $350/mo Productivity stipend to spend on things that make your work environment more productive, like high-speed internet at home or a co-working space

  • $350/mo AI Tools stipend

  • $150/mo team lunch stipend

  • $500/one time home office stipend

  • Cover up to 100% of your health insurance costs for you and your partner or family

  • Equity in the company so we are all invested in the future of computer vision

Interview Process (6+ hours)

Below is the interview process you can expect for this role. We are all motivated to work with an exceptional team and don't currently have in-house recruiters. You will be speaking directly with our team about what it's like to work and thrive at Roboflow. We like to be decisive and work fast, so don't be surprised if all the below conversations happen over a day or two.

Introduction Phase:

  • [30m] Meet with hiring manager for introduction to assess overall mindset and skillset.

  • [30m] Team interview on product and business skills.

  • [60m] Collaborate with a Roboflow engineer to ideate and begin building a project with Roboflow.

Build with Roboflow:

  • You will build a small project with Roboflow to showcase your technical and product skills.

Project Demo:

  • [45m] Meet with your hiring manager or our CTO to demo your project

Final Interviews:

  • [45m] Meet with Head of Operations for a culture discussion.

  • [60m / Optional] Meet with CEO.

We call at least 3 references in the final stage of the process. We love it when one of your references is a customer or client you’ve worked with!
