Job Description

  

Lead operational excellence in defense electronics with Teledyne! For decades, we’ve delivered mission-critical technologies for aerospace and defense.

Job Summary:

The Product Line Manager will be responsible for the overall management, growth, and profitability of a key product line (3-5 family of products) within our defense electronics manufacturing business. This role is based in Torrance, CA and directly reports to the Business Unit General Manager. The successful candidate will serve as the primary interface between the company and its customers, ensuring alignment of business objectives, market requirements, and operational execution.

Detailed Description:

  • Product Line Management: Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept through end-of-life, ensuring products meet customer requirements, quality standards, cost targets, on-time-delivery and customer satisfaction.  This will also include ownership of quote/bid development for the product types in the product line family

  • Growth Strategy: Develop and execute strategies for product line growth, including market analysis, competitive positioning, forecasts, and new business development/capture.  This includes margin improvement opportunities (pricing, mix, cost reduction, yield, automation, etc)

  • Customer Interface: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers on all product-related matters, building strong relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Financial Management: Own the product line Profit & Loss (P&L) statement, including revenue forecasting, margin management, and cash flow optimization. Analyze financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve business targets.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with engineering, operations, supply chain, and sales teams to drive product success and resolve issues.

  • Internal & External Communication: Prepare and present regular status updates, forecasts, and reports for internal stakeholders, as well as clear and professional communications with external customer contacts.  Escalate and resolve delivery/customer satisfaction issues related to the product line

  • Up to 20% travel to customer sites/business meetings

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree required (preferably in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline).

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in technical product management, preferably within the defense or electronics manufacturing sector.

  • Financial Acumen: Demonstrated experience managing P&L, forecasting, margin analysis, and cash flow for a product line or business unit.

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both internal teams and external customers.

  • Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen due to defense industry requirements.

Range: $140k-$160k

  

Salary Range:

$120,300.00-$160,400.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
