About Compa

Compa is a venture-backed AI startup revolutionizing the future of compensation.

In a dynamic job market with hiring challenges, accountability, and the rise of AI, companies need the best data to stay ahead of industry changes, competition, and costs. Compa has developed the premier real-time compensation data platform, delivering top-tier compensation intelligence to leading enterprise teams.

Compa is a compensation intelligence company built to augment enterprise compensation teams in the era of AI.

Our customers include the world’s biggest companies: NVIDIA, Stripe, DoorDash, Open AI, TMobile, Moderna, Workday, Ulta, Target, and more.

Locations:

Compa headquarters are located in Irvine, California, with growing sites in Denver, Colorado and San Francisco, California. We’re a collaborative, curious, and driven team that values transparency, ownership, and continuous learning and prioritizing in person work where possible.

The Role

Compa is building AI agents for our customer compensation teams to enable smarter, faster pay decision making with greater confidence.

As a Product Manager, you’ll own key areas of our AI agent platform, turning emerging AI capabilities into products customers rely on every day. You’ll work across product strategy, customer discovery, design, engineering, and AI systems to define how compensation teams interact with software in an agent-first world.

This is a high-autonomy role with meaningful ownership, partnering closely with our Agents Product Lead and executive team to identify opportunities, validate solutions, and ship products that create measurable customer value. Join us!

Success Factors

Customer Obsessed You are relentlessly curious about how compensation and talent acquisition teams work. You don’t stop at feature requests — you want to understand personas, workflows, incentives, decision-making, and the root causes behind customer pain.

Builder Mindset You learn by making. Whether it’s a prototype, workflow, prompt, mockup, or experiment, you’d rather put something in front of users than debate it endlessly in a document. At Compa we believe if an image is worth 1,000 words, a prototype is worth at least 10 meetings.

High Agency You don’t wait for perfect clarity. You can take a messy problem, develop a point of view, align stakeholders, and create momentum where others see ambiguity.

What You’ll Do
  • Own strategy, roadmap, and execution for key areas of Compa’s AI agent platform

  • Identify customer problems worth solving and translate them into clear product bets

  • Spend significant time with customers to understand workflows, decisions, and pain points

  • Prototype concepts early to accelerate learning before investing in implementation

  • Partner closely with engineering and design to ship iteratively and learn quickly

  • Define success metrics and use data to guide product decisions

  • Design agent experiences that balance autonomy, trust, explainability, and control

  • Stay current on advances in AI and translate meaningful developments into customer value

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of product management experience (early-phase startup engineering or product design is a suitable alternative), including ownership of complex products from concept through launch

  • Strong customer instincts and a track record of translating ambiguous problems into valuable solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to use prototyping, experimentation, and AI tools to accelerate product discovery and execution

  • Demonstrated success building and scaling greenfield products or major new product areas

  • Excellent communication skills with customers, executives, designers, and engineers

  • Strong product judgment and experience making thoughtful tradeoffs with limited resources

  • Experience working closely with engineering teams on technically sophisticated products

  • Curiosity about AI, agent systems, and emerging technologies, with the ability to separate meaningful opportunities from hype

Preferred Qualifications
  • High-growth startup experience

  • Experience building AI-powered, data-intensive, or workflow products

  • Experience designing evaluation frameworks, feedback systems, or human-in-the-loop experiences

  • Familiarity with LLMs, retrieval systems, agent architectures, or modern AI application development

  • Experience serving HR, compensation, talent, recruiting, or broader enterprise software markets

Tech Stack
  • Enterprise Claude + ChatGPT (no token-use restrictions)

  • In-house prototyping deployment platform

  • Notion
