State Affairs is the nation’s leading news and policy intelligence platform focused on state governments. We combine nonpartisan coverage of Statehouses across the country alongside state government data and AI-native tools into a singular platform.

We inform and empower decision makers, policy professionals and citizens through our award-winning journalism and data – delivering profound insights to help our customers decode and act on state politics and  policy. We’re building a category-defining business that will reshape America as we strengthen visibility into what’s happening and why at the state level.

We are hiring a Product Manager, Enterprise, to join our team located in Washington, DC and San Francisco, California.

Our largest national customers do not just need data; they need a system that creates order out of chaos. You will not just be building features; you will be designing the "operating system" for large-scale government affairs teams. Your focus is on how complex organizations consume information, collaborate across hierarchies, and integrate our intelligence into their broader corporate ecosystems.

As the Product Manager, Enterprise, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Signal-to-Noise Strategy: Develop product logic that prioritizes relevance over volume. You must deeply understand how to algorithmically surface business-critical information for users managing nationwide portfolios.
  • Organizational Dynamics: Design for the complexity of large teams. You will tackle challenges related to governance, permissions, information sharing, and collaboration flows between leadership and local operators.
  • Ecosystem Interoperability: Own the strategy for how our platform "plays well with others." You will focus on making our data portable and seamlessly integrated into the diverse software stacks (CRMs, ERPs, Communication tools) of Fortune 500 companies.
  • Holistic Value Delivery: Shift the focus from individual user actions to organizational ROI. You will identify features that help entire departments demonstrate their value to the C-Suite.
  • AI Engineering: Write and run evals, prototype with code, understand model architecture tradeoffs, use AI agents to automate your work, and use LLMs with MCPs.

Essential Qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional work experience in Product Management, specifically within B2B SaaS or Enterprise software.
  • Prior professional work experience in an Agile/Scrum environment, collaborating daily with engineering and design counterparts to ship software iteratively.
  • Prior professional work experience balancing the conflicting needs of different user personas (e.g., The Executive Buyer vs. The Daily User) within a single client account.
  • Prior professional work experience conducting user interviews and validation with high-value clients.
  • Ability to map out complex workflows and identify bottlenecks in large organizations.
  • Ability to define success metrics (KPIs), analyze user engagement data, and use quantitative insights to defend prioritization decisions.
  • Knowledge of how to build extensible solutions and APIs rather than one-off custom features.

Preferred Qualifications for this position include:

  • Prior professional experience working corporate government affairs
  • Prior professional work experience in a start-up organization
