The Product Manager will oversee the hardware product lifecycle, manage strategic roadmaps, collaborate across teams, and ensure products meet market needs.
Gator Bio is a pre-IPO biotech company located in Palo Alto, CA. We are creating innovative technologies to solve difficult problems facing today’s healthcare industries. We develop, manufacture and market instruments, biosensors, reagents, and consumables for in-vitro diagnostics and biotherapeutic development. Our mission is to simplify and accelerate biological analysis for biotherapeutic research and development.
As a Product Manager at Gator Bio, this individual will play a critical role in managing product lifecycle planning, coordinating cross-functional initiatives with R&D, marketing, sales, and operations, and ensuring our instruments offerings meet customer needs across discovery and development applications. The ideal candidate combines strong technical acumen with a practical, customer-first mindset and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. We prefer candidates based in or willing to relocate to our Palo Alto office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Product Strategy & Roadmapping
- Own the product roadmap for Gator Bio’s hardware product lines.
- Translate customer insights and competitive intelligence into prioritized product features and portfolio initiatives.
- Define business cases for new products or upgrades, including value proposition, pricing, and positioning.
- Product Lifecycle Management
- Manage end-to-end lifecycle for hardware (instruments, associated hardware components).
- Partner with operations to forecast demand, manage SKU performance, and streamline portfolio complexity.
- Oversee product change requests (PCRs) and ensure release readiness with documentation and communication to internal teams.
- Voice of Customer & Market Insight
- Conduct customer interviews and application deep-dives to identify unmet needs and feature opportunities.
- Maintain a structured VOC feedback loop in collaboration with field scientists, sales, and marketing.
- Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and user workflows to inform strategy and messaging.
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- § Collaborate closely with R&D to define requirements, prioritize backlog, and align development with commercial needs.
- § Work with Marketing Communications to build launch collateral, website content, and technical documentation.
- § Train and support Sales and Field Application Scientists on new features, applications, and software use cases.
- Commercial Enablement
- Define pricing, positioning, and differentiation for instrument products.
- Develop launch plans, data sheets, application notes, and competitive battlecards.
- Track performance metrics (adoption, attach rates, renewal rates, feedback) and recommend corrective actions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, or related field; advanced degree (MS or PhD) preferred.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in product management, applications, or marketing in life science tools or analytical instrumentation.
- Demonstrated success managing commercial processes involving software, instrumentation, or related products.
- Strong understanding of biophysical analysis workflows (BLI, SPR, ELISA, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with agile product development, software release cycles, or SaaS-like delivery models a plus.
- Excellent communication and project management skills, with ability to translate between technical and commercial teams.
- Proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Fluency in mandarin language preferred.
