Product Manager, Safety Experiences & Fundamentals
San Mateo or San Diego, CA (hybrid) 

Role Summary

PlayStation Safety builds the foundational systems and experiences that help players stay safe and well wherever they play. We develop comprehensive safety technologies and tools that support both proactive harm prevention and effective reactive response, to enable safe experiences across the ecosystem where hundreds of millions of players play every month.

In this role, you will build proprietary safety tools that use AI and machine learning technologies to detect and reduce potential harms across platform features, in collaboration with world-class online safety experts. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with studio partners to help them adopt and extend our safety technologies. Knowledge of how safety attitudes and needs vary across the globe will be a key component of this position, along with experience working alongside safety operations and moderation teams.

Responsibilities
  • Develop requirements for new online safety features and services for PlayStation, focused on preventing online harms and guiding players to stay safe and play well
  • Work with PlayStation product teams to guide and ensure online safety features/initiatives are integrated appropriately across all PlayStation experiences
  • Work with design teams to create solutions that are compelling, easy to use, and realistic to implement
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure we build the right thing and ship it at the right time
  • Work with corporate Legal team to understand the safety regulation landscape and decide on the product approach together with different partners
  • Prioritize features based on product strategy and global business goals
  • Maintain and communicate the roadmap for your features and product
  • Understand how your product is used in market, based on customer feedback, research and data, feeding back into future requirements and product roadmap
  • Communicate the competitive landscape as it affects PlayStation and its social strategy in particular

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in product management capacity, preferably in the Online Safety realm or in large-scale infrastructure and platform solutions
  • Excellent communication and people skills - able to convey requirements, strategic rationale, and everything in between to build alignment across all levels of organization and move initiatives forward
  • Strong analytical thinking, with experience data and experimentation to validate hypothesis and inform product decisions
  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in product management
  • Knowledge of the regulatory landscape around Online Safety and the specific safety challenges within the gaming space
  • Hands-on experience employing AI/ML technologies, APIs, data models, and experimentation platforms
  • Proven experience driving cross-functional initiatives involving multiple product teams, as well as Legal, Policy, Online Safety, and adjacent partners
  • When appropriate, ability to travel to Japan, UK, and other PlayStation locations for collaboration with partners and other product/engineering teams

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$154,800$232,200 USD
