About the Role

As a Product Manager for model APIs, you will drive the development and adoption of our API offerings among developers and enterprises. You will work at the intersection of AI models, developer platforms, and cloud services, partnering closely with engineering, design, UX research, go-to-market, and cloud platform teams. In this role, you will dive deep into customer challenges, formulate hypotheses, and validate them through innovative solutions.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based New York or San Francisco (Hybrid)

Role Responsibilities
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Work closely with engineering to translate customer needs into clear product requirements and prioritized roadmaps. Partner with design, analytics, and UX research to understand user behavior and continuously improve the API experience. Collaborate with GTM, sales, docs, technical support, and developer relations to ensure successful launches and adoption
  • Atlas Integration: MongoDB Atlas is an enterprise, multi-cloud data developer platform. Shape deep integration with Atlas, including billing, usage analytics, permissions, observability, and UI experiences
  • AI Stack Collaboration: Partner with model infrastructure, serving and platform teams, and AI researchers as upstream stakeholders to align on delivery priorities. Provide customer insights to inform platform and research requirements and strategic direction
  • Developer Experience Leadership: Champion a best-in-class developer experience across API design, SDKs, documentation, onboarding flows, and enterprise readiness and compliance. Ensure fast time-to-first-success for developers through clear quickstarts, sample code, and reference architectures
  • Customer & Market Insight: Engage directly with customers and prospects to understand real-world AI workloads and developer workflows. Conduct competitive analysis of AI API providers and developer platforms. Identify barriers to adoption and opportunities for expansion
  • Product Roadmap and Strategy: Own the roadmap for the API service in Atlas, covering capabilities such as embeddings, reranking, fine-tuning, and batch inference. Develop a clear point of view on how AI model APIs should evolve for enterprise and developer use cases
Requirements
  • Experience: At least two to four years of product management experience, with significant time in developer platforms, APIs, or AI/ML products
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (computer science, engineering) or equivalent experience
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to translate complex technical ideas for diverse audiences. Strong product storytelling and documentation skills
  • Collaboration: Effective at influencing across engineering, design, GTM, and leadership. Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
  • Customers: Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with technical customers and translate their needs into product features
  • Developer Experience: Strong understanding of APIs, SDKs, and cloud services. Deep appreciation for developer workflows and pain points
  • Data Proficiency: Ability to use metrics and experimentation to inform product decisions. Comfortable defining and analyzing usage, funnel, and retention metrics
  • Artificial Intelligence: Familiarity with AI/ML concepts such as embeddings
Nice to Have
  • Advanced AI Proficiency: Formal academic training and/or hands-on experience with AI/ML concepts and technologies, such as model training, model deployment/inference, and fine-tuning
