About Morningstar

Empowering investor success is our mission and the reason we exist. With connected data, independent research, investor-first tools, and long-term portfolio strategies, Morningstar challenges what's hidden, complex, and inefficient — so nothing stands between investors and their goals. Today, Morningstar supports a global investing ecosystem, with subsidiaries in over 30 countries, serving individual and institutional investors, financial advisors, asset managers, and more.

The Role

The Direct Platform team transforms Morningstar's high-quality data, independent research, and technological expertise into well-designed software products that delight our clients. Direct Advisory Suite, our advisor software, gives financial advisors the research, reports, and planning tools to make the right investment decisions for their clients. It's a pillar of our Enterprise business.

As Product Marketing Manager, Advisor Software, you'll lead go-to-market launches, shape positioning and messaging, and connect sales, strategic account marketing, and demand generation around clear priorities. You'll also help grow our customer marketing programs to increase product adoption, advocacy, and client engagement. You'll work closely with product management, product development, client success, service teams, and sales.

This role is based in our Chicago office and requires working onsite 4 days per week.

What Success Looks Like

What You'll Do
  • Craft and execute the go-to-market strategy for new product releases, including positioning, content, service enablement, and sales enablement, to retain existing clients and attract new ones.
  • Act as the commercial lead across sales, strategic account marketing, and demand generation, turning product strategy and market opportunities into sales plays, enablement programs, customer marketing initiatives, and client-facing assets.
  • Develop and execute customer marketing programs that drive product adoption, advocacy, engagement, and expansion across the advisor client lifecycle, using client insights and success stories.
  • Bring the voice of the advisor to the team through market research and win/loss analysis, and use those findings to inform product development, packaging, pricing, positioning, and messaging decisions.
  • Build the competitive landscape for the business and create a sales enablement toolkit to support client conversations.
  • Own our content library, including sales enablement and client-facing assets and testimonials, and keep it current so the sales team uses it.
  • Partner with business analysts to measure and report on program results to executive stakeholders, and use what you learn to improve outcomes.
