About Matter Intelligence

Matter Intelligence is building the future of vision AI: pairing a world-first sensor that sees molecular chemistry, temperature, and 3D shape with a Large World Model - the most powerful intelligence engine for the physical world. This system doesn't just see what something looks like; it understands everything from a single pixel. We call this Superintelligent Vision.

Our team has delivered technologies to Mars for NASA/JPL, designed cutting-edge sensors for U.S. Defense, and invented core algorithms for spectral and 3D imaging. We've come together to build the next infrastructure for vision and intelligence in the physical world.

About the Role

Insurance is one of Matter’s first commercial verticals. We are working with leading property and casualty carriers to transform how they operate with data products that reveal real roof condition, material degradation, and hazard exposure at scale. We are looking for a Product Researcher to help Matter find the most impactful insurance products possible.

You will define and drive Matter’s insurance data-product roadmap. You will work directly with carrier executives and operator teams, translate workflows, economics, and adoption constraints into clear product requirements, packaging, and pricing, and partner with science, engineering, deployment, and commercial teams to scope products that revolutionize how property risk is assessed in the future while ensuring the P&L viability of Matter’s insurance vertical.

You will help determine what we build, why it matters, how it creates measurable customer and organizational value, and what it takes to scale from early deployment to repeatable product.

You will:

  • Own the insurance product roadmap

  • Work directly with customers to understand operational pain points, economics, approval processes, and adoption barriers

  • Translate spectral and geospatial capabilities into clear product specifications, customer-facing outputs, and prioritization decisions

  • Partner closely with science, engineering, and deployment to define product requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and prioritize features

  • Create tight feedback loops between customer iterations, deployment execution, and product iteration

  • Define ROI framework that supports customer conversations, internal prioritization, and commercial scale-up

  • Build out product economics, support pricing, drive packaging, and cost-to-serve

  • Prioritize product development based on insurer workflow impact, data-value creation, implementation feasibility, and commercialization readiness

  • Partner with Business Development on product-market fit, and market entry

  • Partner with Deployment to ensure product outputs integrate into real customer workflows and deliver measurable business impact

  • Represent the company in industry relevant venues

What We’re Looking For

You understand how insurance organizations actually make decisions; you know how to take new products from 0-1; you know how to span actuarial, underwriting, claims, and digital products; and you know how to turn messy customer needs into products that teams will buy, trust, and use.

Must-haves:

  • Deep insurance domain expertise, ideally from building or commercializing data, analytics, or workflow products sold into P&C carriers or built within carriers

  • Strong experience in property insurance, preferably homeowners, or commercial property and adjacent lines

  • Experience shipping B2B data, analytics, or workflow products or in shipping P&C insurance products within digital environments from concept through launch and iteration

  • Strong product judgment and the ability to prioritize ruthlessly in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

  • Executive-level customer credibility and comfort working directly with leaders such as Chief Underwriting Officers, Heads of Product, Chief Technology Officers, or Heads of Claims/ VP of Claims operator executives

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with business, technical, and operational teams and drive alignment without heavy process

  • Bias to action. We're a 40-person company building category-defining technology. We move fast and figure things out.

Strong plus:

  • Experience with aerial imagery, geospatial data, remote sensing, or computer vision products

  • Experience at or alongside companies such as Verisk, CoreLogic, Nearmap, EagleView, Cape Analytics, or similar insurance data providers

  • Familiarity with property inspection, underwriting operations, CAT workflows, or claims estimation processes

  • Experience turning initial deployment work into standardized product packages and scaled enterprise deployments

Success in 6 Months
  • Launch first insurer-ready product attributes

  • Convert initial deployment learnings into standardized product requirements for our first product package

  • Define ROI framework used in customer conversations

  • Help move initial lighthouse customers into scaled deployments together with our Deployment Strategist

  • Develop initial product roadmap based on initial lighthouse customer conversations

  • Compensation: Competitive compensation based on experience

  • Equity: Early-stage equity package so you share directly in Matter’s growth and success.
