The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations on the production floor, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency while supporting employee growth and resolving issues.

Your Role
The Production Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for executing daily production operations while directly supporting and developing production teams.
This role is integrated into the work. Leading by doing, stepping in where needed, and operating as a trusted teammate and role model for excellence. At the same time, this role holds direct responsibility for team performance, including real-time labor allocation, training, coaching, and day-to-day people oversight.
This role works closely with Production Management, Engineering, QA/QC, Facilities, and HR to continuously improve execution in a fast-moving, evolving manufacturing environment.
Core Duties
- Work directly on the production floor alongside operators to support daily output and maintain flow
- Step in as needed to unblock work, rebalance labor, and resolve real-time issues
- Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in alignment with SOPs
- Model strong floor behavior and standards through direct participation
- Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and support to production operators
- Train and upskill team members across stations and processes
- Reallocate people in real time based on workload, skill level, and priorities
- Address performance issues promptly and respectfully
- Participate in performance reviews and provide input on employee growth and readiness
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and recurring issues across departments
- Monitor throughput, WIP, yields, and machine status via dashboards and floor observation
- Make practical, real-time adjustments to staffing, sequencing, or priorities
- Escalate quality, safety, or equipment concerns with context and recommendations
- Surface systemic issues and contribute to longer-term improvements
- Serve as a clear communication bridge between production teams and management
- Lead daily check-ins and support clean shift handoffs
- Contribute to daily production reporting and documentation
- Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Facilities, and HR to resolve issues
- Review and complete employee timecards, including overtime notes, missed lunches, and absences
- Support inventory checks, receiving, and reporting of deliveries
- Assist with incident reporting, safety documentation, and required records

Required Skills & Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in a production, manufacturing, or operations environment
- Demonstrated hands-on floor experience working directly with hourly teams
- Experience leading or guiding teams in real time (formal supervisor title not required)
- Ability to balance execution, quality, safety, and people needs under pressure
- Comfort influencing outcomes both with and without formal authority
- Strong judgment in fast-paced, partially defined environments
- Clear, direct, and respectful communication style
- Familiarity with SOP-driven manufacturing and safety standards
- Comfortable using production dashboards, timekeeping systems, and basic tools (Google Workspace, etc.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking on the production floor for extended periods (8+ hours)
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
- Repetitive motion and use of hands for demonstrations or inspections
- Ability to respond quickly to safety or operational issues
Nice to Have
- Curiosity about 3D printing and digital manufacturing
- Familiarity with tools like Notion, Slack, Asana, or Grafana
- Experience in startup or evolving manufacturing environments
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean concepts
