Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Director of Programs to lead our Data and Analytics Solutions (DAS) Program Area, within the Advanced Mission Solutions (AMS) Product Line, as part of the C4ISR Business Area within the Electronic Systems (ES) Sector. We are looking for a high impact leader who consistently leads with calm reflection, transparent communication, strategic judgement, and people centric mentorship. Reporting operationally and functionally to the Product Line Director, the DAS Program Area Director is responsible for cost and schedule performance on the portfolio of National Geospatial Intelligence Agency(NGA), Air Force Research Laboratory(AFRL) and other customer's programs and pursuits as aligned with DAS Program Area capabilities. This leader's influence needs to be felt across the organization-from total ownership of the Program Area's day-to-day program execution to tactical and strategic business development and capture across the AMS Product Line. This person will have day-to-day responsibility for communication and coordination with the DAS leadership team, while communicating with AMS Senior Leaders, and other Product Lines related to customer activities and pursuits. The ideal candidate will champion innovation and smart risk taking, actively developing a pipeline of future-ready talented leaders who embrace change, leading a culture in which all perspectives are valued and welcomed.
Some specific areas of focus and responsibility include:
  • Foster and create partnerships within industry and Government leadership to serve the needs of the customer's mission and our business.
  • Continuously evaluate capability offerings, identify/develop technical discriminators and expand key relationships and technology focus to envision our strategic positioning and create our next generation core discriminators.
  • Use a command by negation approach to managing day-to-day activities while mindfully working side-by-side with responsible Program Managers and Leaders to ensure successful DAS programs' planning and execution. Conducted in concert with the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG) and actively work across functions to address areas of improvement.
  • Ensure financial performance objectives are met for the Program Area, as well as working with the commercial Program Area within AMS to seek opportunities to employ DAS capabilities toward mission needs using a commercial model.
  • Work with the DAS Program Managers and Program Engineering Lead (PEL) to manage staffing, risks, and opportunities
  • Coordinate and prepare Integrated Business Plans (IBPs), quarterly financial updates as part of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) with effective and frequent communication with the AMS leadership.
  • Serve as leader, mentor and manager for DAS Program Managers who directly report to them: Provide guidance and mentorship to PM leaders within the Program Area by using working knowledge of PM technical skills with portfolios, programs, and projects to improve knowledge and application of these skills.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience leading Program/Project Management teams with a successful track record of project, program, portfolio, and/or capture leadership
  • In depth working knowledge of PM technical, integration, and leadership skills with the ability to work with portfolios and programs to improve knowledge and application of these skills
  • A working understanding and experience of Lifecycle Management (LCM), with an expectation to chair and assess projects across AMS and the wider enterprise
  • Ability to partner to develop PM execution and training solutions across the sector and the larger BAE Systems enterprise
  • Ability to diagnose issues within PM teams and PMOs, working with the teams to create improvement plans
  • Excellent organization and communication skills with the ability to lead with influence
  • Experience in Defense Contracting

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • 15 years work experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $173023 - $294137
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
