Role Overview
Ensurge is seeking a Program Manager to support the planning, execution, and delivery of solid-state microbattery development programs from early concept through industrialization and production. Reporting into the CTO’s organization, this role partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with technical and business objectives.
The Program Manager owns day-to-day program execution, drives cross-functional coordination, tracks progress against milestones, manages risks and changes, and ensures clear communication across stakeholders. The ideal candidate has experience managing complex, hardware-intensive development programs, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Planning & Execution
- Define and manage program scope, objectives, deliverables, schedules, and success metrics in alignment with product roadmaps and Phase-Gate requirements
- Develop and maintain detailed program plans, timelines, and dependency tracking across multiple functional teams
- Drive execution of program milestones from concept through development, validation, and production ramp
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for program execution across R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and commercial teams
- Facilitate regular cross-functional meetings, track action items, and ensure timely issue resolution
- Coordinate with external partners, vendors, and customers as needed to support program goals
Phase-Gate & Deliverables Management
- Support preparation and execution of Phase-Gate reviews, including definition and tracking of entry and exit criteria
- Ensure required technical, operational, and business deliverables are completed on schedule and at the expected quality level
- Maintain clear documentation of program decisions, assumptions, and approvals
Risk, Issue & Change Management
- Identify, track, and mitigate technical, schedule, manufacturing, and commercial risks
- Own program issue logs and drive timely escalation when needed
- Support change-control processes for scope, requirements, and schedule changes, including impact analysis and stakeholder alignment
Metrics & Reporting
- Track program KPIs and milestones and communicate status clearly to management and stakeholders
- Prepare concise program updates, dashboards, and executive summaries
- Ensure data integrity, transparency, and traceability across program documentation and reports
Transition & Close-Out
- Support program transitions to manufacturing, commercialization, or sustaining teams as appropriate
- Contribute to post-program reviews, lessons learned, and continuous improvement efforts
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical discipline such as materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering
- 4–7+ years of experience in program or project management for technical, hardware-intensive products
- Proven ability to manage complex schedules, multiple stakeholders, and competing priorities
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for cross-functional and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency with common program management and productivity tools (e.g., MS Project or equivalent, Excel, PowerPoint, collaboration platforms)
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Located in, or willing to regularly work on-site in, the San Jose area
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degrees (MS, PhD) in relevant engineering discipline(s)
- Experience with thin-film, microbatteries and/or solid-state battery technology
- Experience supporting programs for technical products from early development through industrialization and production map
Personal Attributes
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, scaling environment with high visibility, time pressure, and strategic impact
- Strong attention to detail, disciplined execution, and functional excellence
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative and humble leadership style
