SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for the creation of CNC Lathe programs for semiconductor parts manufactured on various 2 axis CNC lathes using Mastercam software. Manage the use and control of lathe programs and set up books according to FMI procedures and instructions. Work collaboratively with the CNC programming teams to proliferate the use of the latest CAM, CNC, and tooling technologies to improve machining efficiencies.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Analyze manufacturing part drawings, part specifications, GD&T tolerances, and design data to generate complex CNC Lathe programs.
  • Review and collaborate in the development of detailed manufacturing processes for machined parts.
  • Plan and document fixtures with complete set-up and machining instructions for repetitive part manufacturing.
  • Prepare detailed setup instructions for each turning operation following FMI ISO work instructions.
  • Generate machine programs and manage encoding for probing, engraving, and special instructions to manage machining processes.
  • Confer with set-up personnel and operators to oversee part set up and program prove-out to obtain first article approval.
  • Revise programs to improve process instructions and eliminate errors or omissions on first run jobs.
  • Manage the control of programs and instructions per FMI ISO instructions and POR (process of record) protocols.
  • Review programs and set-ups to ensure maximum efficiency in production.
  • Stay current with new technologies and assist in implementing machining improvements.
  • Comply with applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations, Company policy, and accepted safe work practices.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • GD&T certification.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance.
  • 4-6 years of work-related experience in programming complex precision turned parts.
  • Proficiency with Mastercam lathe programming software and experience writing complex CNC programs that incorporate advanced machining techniques.
  • Experience with advanced insert technology and quick-change cutting tools and fixtures.
  • Must be well organized and able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to define problems, collect and organize data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents
  • Computer literacy including but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, CAD/CAM software
  • Organizational analytical and planning skills. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:

  • Frequently required to walk, push, pull, stoop, kneel, or bend to the floor.
  • Lifting and/or moving items up to forty pounds.
  • Frequently required to sit and use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:

  • Regularly exposed to moving equipment and mechanical parts.
  • Physical hazards while working near moving equipment and mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.
  • Possible breathing of fumes, odors, dust, and mist.
  • High noise levels from operating machines.
  • Low noise levels in an office environment.
  • 80/20 Office and shop environment.
  • The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses and shoes, gloves, ear plugs/covers, mask, cleanroom suit).
