We are looking for someone organized and detail-oriented, who loves to make chaotic situations run smoothly, understands the value of strong processes and will enthusiastically familiarize oneself with our software systems to assist in creating and then managing seamless, efficient, and highly organized project development. This person is passionate about the type of work Generate is doing, looking to apply their experience to help scale a growing business and drive critical internal process efficiencies and initiatives. This person can juggle – and juggle well – managing a variety of stakeholders and projects simultaneously while providing the highest standards of service.

What you will be doing at Generate Capital as the Project Development Associate:

  • Executing last-mile development tasks related to Generate-owned community solar projects (e.g., open real estate items tracking of tax and other operational obligations)

  • Engaging with a range of external counterparties including utilities, landowners, permit agencies and development partners

  • Supporting Project Managers through construction

  • Tracking and completing tasks required to obtain incentives through the Illinois and New York Community Solar Program

  • Responding to 3rd party financing deliverables

Candidate qualifications & core characteristics:

  • A demonstrated passion for, or commitment to, our mission

  • 2 - 4 years of experience

  • Proven experience understanding and navigating laws and regulations at a state and local level.

  • Deep familiarity with the community solar development lifecycle.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • A risk management mindset and ability to anticipate challenges.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, intuition, and listening as well as strong writing, editing, and basic design skills.

  • High level of self-awareness and humility, with excitement about confronting uncomfortable situations or new challenges

  • Intellectual agility, curiosity, and creativity; problem-solving is your default mode

  • Unimpeachable integrity and glowing references

  • Entrepreneurial spirit: flexibility, comfort with risk, recognition that “perfect can be the enemy of the good”

Generate’s compensation packages are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Salary decisions take into account a wide variety of factors including, but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000. In addition, the compensation package may include a discretionary bonus and other benefits, including health care benefits, retirement benefits, benefits permitting paid days off (including sick leave, parental leave, and paid time off or vacation benefits), and other benefits that must be reported for federal tax purposes. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of this range.
