Who we are:
Fuse builds innovative communications, networking, and computing solutions that improve the sharing of information, video, text, and voice among operators distributed throughout the airborne, maritime, and ground environments.  We are a technology firm creating in-house software, network and hardware solutions that support our noble cause of advancing warfighter capabilities with elegant, user-focused communications, networks, and software systems.

About this role:
Fuse is looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our energetic and growing team. In this pivotal role, you will own the technical planning and execution for key customer programs, working closely across engineering, operations, programs, and strategy teams to deliver robust, intuitive solutions to the warfighter. You will serve as the primary technical interface to our customers, driving requirements, schedules, testing, and integration activities to successful completion.

What you’ll do:

  • Spearhead technical customer relationships and act as the primary point of contact for program offices and their representatives for any technical questions or issues that arise.
  • Lead technical interchange meetings with customers and vendors to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and drive technical decisions.
  • Decompose program requirements and product roadmaps into product and system-level requirements; maintain and manage requirements within the JAMA database.
  • Maintain and manage product development schedules with the goal of meeting customer timelines and achieving program/project milestones.
  • Provide prioritization inputs to guide cross-functional teams (engineering, product, test, production) to execute product development resulting in product demonstration and delivery.
  • Participate in project kick-offs and gated design reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR) for new and existing projects, ensuring technical alignment and risk mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including system architectures, interface control documents (ICDs), and user/maintenance manuals.
  • Develop product troubleshooting guides and other technical reference materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct customer test and integration events to validate performance, interoperability, and compliance with requirements.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and reports for qualification, verification, and benchmark testing.
  • Prioritize new product features and drive feature implementation and qualification.
  • Coordinate closely with production and quality teams to support system build, configuration, and acceptance testing.
  • Train field service engineers and develop training content for end users and maintainers; support knowledge transfer and sustainment activities.
  • Support risk management, including identification, tracking, and mitigation of technical and schedule risks across the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with integration of hardware, firmware, and software components in lab and field environments, including support to troubleshooting and defect resolution.
  • Diagnose, fix, and troubleshoot complex technical issues in systems or components.

Requirements

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in a technical project, systems, or integration engineering role supporting complex hardware/software systems.
  • Experience with loading and updating firmware for embedded systems.
  • Basic understanding of RF principles, waveforms, antennas, radios, and related communication systems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and managing technical tasks to schedule.
  • Strong aptitude for requirements analysis, system-level thinking, and problem solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • US Citizen.

Nice to have:

  • Technical leadership experience, such as leading small engineering or test teams.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical, highly regulated environments. Background in hands-on experience working with avionics LRUs and subassemblies.
  • Experience with Virtual Machines, Cisco routers, and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of networking protocols and Linux DevOps processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux OS (RHEL, CentOS).
  • Experience with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs) and cybersecurity hardening for deployed systems.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD and other defense and aerospace certification and qualification processes.

If you meet many, but not all, of the qualifications listed above, we still want to hear from you. Tell us why you’d be a great fit for this Project Engineer role based on your specific experience, strengths, and characteristics that align with Fuse’s values and mission
