Why Patch, why now

Patch exists to put the planet back in balance by scaling unified climate action through software, market infrastructure, and culture-driven execution. Every day our platform not only curates the world’s most trusted carbon-removal and environmental datasets—it also moves 100s of millions of dollars to projects that cut, capture, or store CO₂ for good.

Our culture is built on three non-negotiables:

  • We build the future we want – we don’t wait for permission; we shape the market.

  • We’re all in this together – direct, empathetic teamwork inside Patch and across the climate ecosystem.

  • We amp it up – urgency and unreasonably high standards because the planet can’t wait.

If that mindset energizes you, read on.

About the role

We're seeking technical experts to join our Integrity Bench as independent contractor project analysts. This flexible role requires 3-12 hours per week and offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in carbon markets and climate science to evaluate the integrity of carbon credit projects across diverse technologies and methodologies.

As an Integrity Bench contractor, you'll conduct in-depth technical reviews of carbon projects submitted to the Patch platform.

What you'll tackle
  • Review project documentation including Project Design Documents (PDDs), monitoring reports, verification reports, methodology documents, and supporting technical materials

  • Assess projects against Patch's Project Acceptance Criteria, which includes:

    • Baseline criteria: Evaluating additionality, permanence/durability, real and verifiable impact, attribution, leakage, and compliance with ICVCM Core Carbon Principles

    • Tech-specific criteria: Applying over 200 project-specific variables tailored to each technology pathway (e.g., forestry, biochar, direct air capture, enhanced rock weathering, etc.)

  • Generate Standard Due Diligence packs for projects that pass the integrity review. Standard Diligence provides customer-facing, analytical project summaries.

  • Test and provide feedback on Patch's AI-powered review tools: As a contractor, you'll provide structured feedback to help train and improve our models over time.

  • Provide clear, objective assessments with citations to specific documentation

  • Collaborate asynchronously with Patch's Integrity team via shared documents and occasional check-ins

What makes you a great match

Required Qualifications

  • Technical expertise in carbon markets, climate science, or environmental science (minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience)

  • Deep familiarity with carbon credit methodologies and registries (Verra/VCS, Gold Standard, ACR, CAR, Puro, Isometric etc.)

  • Experience reviewing Project Design Documents (PDDs), verification reports, or similar technical documentation

  • Understanding of carbon credit integrity concepts including additionality, permanence, leakage, baseline setting, and MRV (Monitoring, Reporting & Verification)

  • Excellent written communication – you must be able to document findings clearly and cite specific sources

  • Ability to work independently and manage flexible project-based deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in methodology development for carbon registries (Verra, Gold Standard, etc.)

  • Experience as a third-party verifier or validator (ISO 14064, ISO 14065, or similar)

  • Familiarity with evolving standards and frameworks (ICVCM Core Carbon Principles, Oxford Offsetting Principles, SBTi)

What you'll get
  • Impact: Your work directly shapes which projects make it onto one of the most trusted carbon credit platforms

  • Flexibility: Project-based work that fits around your schedule

If building the frameworks and processes to scale climate finance with integrity—while using AI as a force multiplier—sounds like your kind of challenge, we’d love to meet you.

Let’s rebalance the planet together.
