About Lumen Energy

Lumen Energy is the modern solar broker for the nation's largest commercial real estate owners. We partner with leading owners to turn underutilized rooftops and parking lots into profitable solar and battery revenue — delivering investment-grade analysis powered by our proprietary Lux Engine, securing transparent competition among top developers, and providing white-glove service throughout. Owners unlock meaningful new income, advance sustainability and resiliency goals, and scale solar & batteries across their portfolios without distraction from their core business.

We're proud to work with Tier 1 institutional CRE clients, including Nuveen, Hines, and J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Our clients manage thousands of buildings and hundreds of billions of dollars in AUM. We're backed by leading investors like Lowercarbon Capital and Designer Fund, and our team comes from Google X, Stem, Bain, Citi, and Arcadia, united by a mission to power the built environment with profitable clean energy.

The role

A Lumen project comes to life when a solar or battery lease with our building owner client is signed. From lease signature until commercial operation date (COD), there's a long list of work to get the project built: site plan approvals, lender consents, structural diligence, incentive applications, and construction. Every item involves the owner, the solar developer, and often the property manager, tenants, lenders, and the EPC.

Across a multi-hundred MW portfolio of development projects, you'll be the quarterback: the person who sees the whole field and keeps every party moving toward COD. Half the job is execution: running parallel workstreams across a dozen-plus counterparties without dropping anything. The other half is client leadership: being the trusted advisor that institutional portfolio teams rely on for multi-year projects.

What you'll own
  • Owner engagement system: Build and run a structured, predictable way of bringing development items to building owners. Pressure-test each item with the developer first, then bring the owner a clear, concise ask: what's needed, why it matters, and by when. Own a regular cadence of detailed updates that gives owners full visibility without overwhelming them and earns their lasting trust.

  • Issue resolution: Spot risks to a project's timeline or economics early, such as unfavorable incentive results, permitting delays, or interconnection cost surprises. Then drive them to resolution. When a developer's interests diverge from the owner's, use your judgment to advise the owner on the trade-offs and the best path forward.

  • Deal execution from lease signature to COD: Drive every post-signing workstream to close. This includes site plan review and approval, lender items such as SNDA negotiation, lease amendments, memoranda of lease, incentive program applications, and construction logistics. Keep forecasted and actual milestones current in Lumen's platform and HubSpot.

  • Quarterly reviews and look-aheads: Lead quarterly sessions with owner stakeholders, up to executive sponsors. Show the progress made across their portfolio, and prepare them for what's ahead on the solar and battery front: upcoming milestones, decisions they'll need to make, and what to expect next.

  • Building the playbook: Design the processes, dashboards, and communication standards that let this function scale with Lumen's portfolio.

  • Relationships: Build trusted relationships with our developer partners and with property managers at our building owner clients. Share milestones with owners, such as a program award or reaching COD. Turn strong outcomes into case studies and references.

Who you'll work with

Commercial real estate customers:
Asset managers, property managers, and executive sponsors at some of the largest real estate owners in the country.

Renewable energy developers and EPCs:
Development and construction teams you'll partner with to keep projects moving and hold accountable when projects stall.

Internal Lumen teams:
Account leads in Business Development and the Operations team. Driving post-signing work builds the Lumen project flywheel and unlocks new projects with clients.

Who you are
  • 2–6 years in management consulting, investment banking, commercial real estate, renewable energy development, or a similar client-facing role

  • Someone who has run multiple workstreams at once and has the rigor to keep dozens of open items moving across many parties

  • A strong communicator who can make complex technical or legal detail clear and actionable for a senior, non-technical audience

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and excited to build a function, not just run one

  • Ready to own outcomes directly rather than advise on them

How you'll grow
  • No solar background required. Interconnection, SNDAs, and incentive programs are learnable, and you'll pick them up quickly working alongside our team. What we can't teach is the rigor, judgment, and client presence you've built in consulting, banking, or a similar client-facing role.

  • A role that grows with Lumen. You'll work directly with the VP of Business Development and get early exposure to executive sponsors at some of the largest real estate owners in the country. As our portfolio scales, so does this function. Strong performers can grow into leading the project success team or move into account leadership, owning client relationships and new deals from origination through COD.

Nice to have
  • Prior work with sophisticated clients, especially institutional commercial real estate owners

  • Familiarity with solar or renewable energy development (interconnection, permitting, incentive and community solar programs)

  • Exposure to real estate transaction documents (leases, SNDAs, lender consents)

  • Experience with HubSpot or a comparable CRM

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $115,000 – $137,000 base salary, plus equity

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and geographic location.

Benefits include:

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) plan

  • Flexible PTO

  • Remote work flexibility

  • Quarterly company-sponsored offsites

  • Professional development budget

  • Equipment and home office stipend

How to apply

Send your resume and a short note on why this role excites you. We'd especially like to hear about:

  • A complex, multi-party project or transaction you helped drive to completion over a long timeline

  • A time you translated detailed technical, legal, or financial information for a senior stakeholder

  • How you've balanced client relationships with rigorous execution

Lumen Energy is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diverse perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive workplace. US work authorization required. We are unable to sponsor H-1B visas at this time.
