About the Role
Program Management at Chime works to make execution a competitive advantage for the company. As the Director of Program Management, you will manage a team of Program Managers who oversee how our cross-functional teams come together to align and deliver on our largest company programs and goals. Through our programs, we manage the enrollment and conversion funnels, our core debit and credit features, and internal tooling for agents among others. We are looking for a leader to help manage the evolution of Program Management and how we execute as Chime scales. In addition to managing the team, you’ll work closely with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, Risk, Marketing, Member Services, and others. This role reports to the Chief of Staff & VP of Program Management.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and coach a team of Program Managers who oversee cross-functional programs and goals
- Establish, implement, and communicate a compelling Program Management vision
- Build on the Program Management foundation by identifying, developing, and implementing future-oriented improvements to our processes
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners to collaborate and advocate for Program Management’s roadmap, driving towards more effective execution
- Define and own operational and communication cadence to hold partners accountable and ensure successful delivery of programs
- Be a thought leader in building a high-performance culture. Define and measure success metrics for the team
- As needed, hands on manage strategic programs with internal and external partners
- Build and iterate on various processes with leaders and teams to drive alignment, simplify execution, and improve quality and efficiency
Requirements
- 10+ years in program/project management or execution, with at least 4+ years of managing a team of program managers or project managers
- Exceptional project management and organization skills and have been part of a scaling program management function
- Track record of building meaningful relations with leaders and cross-functional stakeholders; can navigate interpersonal challenges with honesty, transparency, and empathy
- Structured and direct verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate at executive and IC level
- First-principles problem solver - distills complex problems to their root cause and main drivers; leverages data and analysis; challenges assumptions even from senior leaders to ensure we set and meet high standards
- Resilient and able to work autonomously in the face of ambiguity
- Ability to see the bigger picture while maintaining attention to detail; solves for future problems not just today’s specific challenge.
- Technical/finance background and/or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
- High-growth startup experience a strong plus
