The Organization

North Los Angeles County Regional Center “NLACRC” is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition-age youth, to adults and aging adults.

 

Scope 

The Public Information Specialists coordinates social media activity, facilitates outreach and promotional efforts, assists in web site maintenance and development, develops print and electronic media, oversees videography, photography, and podcast needs, assists in tracking and monitoring of legislative activities and other agency activities and projects as needed.

 

Supervision

Receives general supervision from the Public Information Supervisor. 

 

The Position and Job Summary

Responsible for performing a variety of complex accounting and budgeting functions including analysis and reporting.


  • Coordinates social media activity and assists in developing, implementing, and managing our social media strategy.
  • Assists in developing, coordinating, and conducting outreach, public awareness marketing, and promotional efforts.
  • Web site maintenance and development.
  • Develops print and electronic media, design and create flyers, posters, reports, and other communication pieces as needed.
  • Facilitates various events including event publicity, coordination of supplies and materials, and deploying and/or operating audio-visual equipment.
  • Oversee videography and photography needs, as well as podcast production, including identifying and scheduling episodes, managing pre-production planning, conducting production/recording, handling post-production editing, and coordinating the release and distribution of podcast/video/audio content.
  • Assists in tracking and monitoring legislative activity.
  • Other projects as assigned.

 

Employment Standards 

  • Experience in social media, specifically Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Experience in video production and recording
  • Web site maintenance, design, and multimedia development
  • Experience designing flyers, brochures, reports, and forms
  • Outreach and special event coordination

 

Education & Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one to three years of related experience or Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and three to five years of experience.

Must be able to work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays. This position requires the use of a personal vehicle while conducting business and must possess a valid (Class C) California driver’s license. Travel to Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys will be required.


Skills and Abilities 

  • 1 to 3 years working in a variety of social media platform
  • 1 to 3 years of web site maintenance experience
  • 1 to 3 years of video/audio experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently under pressure of multiple deadlines and by prioritizing multiple work responsibilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.


 

Essential Requirements 

A valid California Driver's License and transportation, or acceptable substitute, may be required based on assigned duties.

Compensation 

This position is non-exempt. Regular Salary: $30.08 - $42.50 per hour, plus $69.24 per bi-weekly pay period for bilingual services.

Starting salary is typically between the $30.08 and $33.20 of the range, depending on internal equity and experience.
