About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on QA Manager to build and lead our quality assurance function from the ground up. You'll personally advocate for quality while establishing testing processes that ensure Sesame products meet the highest standards. You'll work at the intersection of hardware, software, and user experience, creating technology that feels truly alive.
Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality and testing of hardware and software to deliver outstanding customer experiences.

  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and testing frameworks that cover the full stack.

  • Create opportunities for automated test coverage.

  • Partner with engineering, product, and design teams to integrate quality considerations from concept through production.

  • Identify, document, and advocate for critical issues through hands-on testing and cross-team collaboration.

  • Help triage bugs and work with teams to prioritize fixes based on severity, user impact, and release timelines.

  • Build processes that balance speed with quality in a fast-paced startup environment.

  • Grow and mentor a team of QA testers with a culture rooted in delivering quality.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in QA with at least 2 years in a lead or management role.

  • Strong understanding of consumer QA testing best practices.

  • Experience with test management tools (JIRA, TestRail, or similar).

  • Proven ability to build testing processes from scratch while remaining deeply involved in hands-on testing.

  • Track record of balancing management responsibilities with personal testing work to ship quality products on time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in testing consumer hardware.

  • Experience in testing consumer software.

  • Experience with QA automation and/or engineering.

  • Experience building new testing systems and tools.

  • Experience working with QA vendors.

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and safety standards for consumer electronics.

  • Experience launching new products into mobile app stores.
