The Quality Engineer is responsible for designing and ensuring human/machine interfaces and quality processes, procedures and controls are aligned to maximize quality production at a reduced cost. The Quality Engineer evaluates new customer and vendor requirements to design production-quality flow processes.  Key position results include but are not limited to, increase quality at and/or reduced cost for supply base, internally and customer base; compliance with all regulatory and internal policies; reduction in scrap, reject and rework; The ideal candidate utilizes strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills to identify, develop and follow through on a course of action relative to production-quality flow processes. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to apply problem solving methods and tools to resolve complex issues
  • Works with suppliers to improve products through material or process changes
  • Engage in customer PPAP’s (Production Part Approval Process) and requirements 
  • Determines root cause and implements corrective action to improve internal and external processes. 
  • Performs customer visits and supplier audits to drive improvements internally and externally as well as strengthening customer relationships. Up to 10% travel potential to suppliers (minimal). Partner with customers and suppliers to improve products through material or process changes
  • Assist with completion of PFMEA on existing new products with engineering team
  • Development and completion of Control Plans for existing or new products with assistance of engineering team

Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge of internal audit methodologies related to various quality systems.
  • Proven problem solving and problem resolution.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interpret statistical software along with MS Office programs
  • Familiarity with calibration processes is a plus
  • Ability to read specifications and interpret blueprints
  • Customer service focused and detail oriented.
  • PFMEA process, participation and documentation of PFMEA’s experience a plus but no required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related equivalent experience
