About Tacit

We are an early-stage, deep tech startup based in San Francisco, developing innovative hardware that rethinks human-computer interaction. We are backed by General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures, and Greylock Partners, with a founding team from Stanford, BrainGate, Oculus, and Tesla. While we can’t reveal too much just yet, our team is tackling cutting-edge engineering challenges to bring revolutionary products to life.

About the role

We are looking for a Recruiter to hire the engineers and operators who will build our consumer hardware products. As we enter our next phase of growth, you'll own how we hire across hardware, software, ML/AI, and GTM.

You'll be the person who builds our core recruiting process: the pipelines, the interview loops, the data, and the candidate experience . You'll be running highly technical searches yourself and partnering closely with founders and engineering leaders. It's a fit for someone who's excited by hard, specialized searches, can earn trust with technical candidates, and wants to shape the team behind an ambitious product in a stealth-stage environment where priorities and role definitions are still taking shape.

What you'll do
  • Build our recruiting function from the ground up: sourcing strategy, interview loops, pipeline data, and candidate experience.

  • Own full-cycle recruiting across hardware, ML research, software, firmware, and product management.

  • Run highly technical searches end-to-end and building targeted pipelines through sourcing, referrals, and talent mapping, and engaging passive candidates with personalized, concise outreach that lands with technical people.

  • Partner with founders and hiring managers to scope roles, anticipate needs as the roadmap evolves, and keep decisions moving with clear communication, timely feedback, and crisp debriefs.

  • Design structured, fair interview loops that hold a high bar and reduce bias.

  • Use funnel metrics and candidate signals to drive search strategy, leveling, compensation, closing, and monitor pipeline health

  • Shape and represent Tacit's employer story with clarity, discretion, and genuine excitement.

  • Partner with Operations, HR, and Finance on offers, onboarding, and immigration/visa coordination.

Requirements
  • 4–10 years of full-cycle recruiting with a strong track record hiring technical talent in competitive markets.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently source, engage, and close passive candidates where creativity and persistence are essential

  • Strong technical fluency or willingness to get up to speed quickly

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and creating structure and systems where none exist yet

  • Quality over quantity mindset: You measure success by quality of hires, not speed or volume.

  • Proven ability to recruit across both technical (engineering, research) AND non-technical (GTM, product, ops) roles

  • Strong communication, listening, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.

Strong candidates may have
  • Experience recruiting for hardware, deeptech, or consumer product companies.

  • Willingness to take on adjacent People/HR roles (immigration, retention, compensation, learning, growth, etc.) as unexpected business needs appear

  • Experience being a founding recruiter before & are comfortable operating independently

  • Strong network in SF/Bay Area

Compensation Range

$140,000 - $200,000 plus significant equity

Benefits
  • Competitive equity package

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Company size: 25-30 people

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Visa sponsorship

  • 4% 401k matching
