About Arc Institute

Arc Institute is an independent nonprofit research organization at the interface of artificial intelligence and biology, working to accelerate scientific progress and understand the root causes of complex diseases. Founded in 2021 and based in Palo Alto, Arc partners with Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and UC San Francisco.

Unlike academia, our scientists have long-term funding and industry-like resources. Unlike industry, they're free to pursue high-risk, long-term research without commercial pressures. Arc's Technology Centers and Core Investigator labs work side by side, integrating experimental and computational biology under one roof to tackle problems neither could solve alone.

Our two Institute Initiatives reflect this model in action:

  • Virtual Cell Initiative: Building a full-stack virtual cell model to identify disease mechanisms and nominate drug targets,  accelerating the path from biological insight to clinical trials.
  • Alzheimer's Disease Initiative: Mapping the genes, pathways, and environmental factors behind Alzheimer's disease to develop drug candidates that address root causes.

More than 300 Arconauts work together at our Palo Alto headquarters, backed by substantial long-term philanthropic funding.

About the position

Arc Institute is growing, and we're looking for a full-cycle Recruiter who wants to bring their skills to work that matters. In this role, you'll own hiring across a range of operations and support functions, while also beginning to develop your expertise in Life Sciences recruiting. If you're an expert generalist recruiter who's curious about science and excited to expand into a new domain, this role was designed for you.

About you

  • You love talking to candidates across a wide range of disciplines and getting them genuinely excited about new opportunities.
  • You are a candidate advocate who holds a high bar for candidate experience at every stage of the process.
  • You build relationships with clear communication, transparency, empathy, and kindness.
  • You approach problem solving with curiosity and resilience. You're not afraid to try a new approach when the old one isn't working.
  • You dive into data to craft sourcing strategies and think creatively about candidate engagement.
  • You're a skilled relationship builder who knows how to earn trust quickly across different levels and functions. You can influence without authority, whether you're advising a first-time hiring manager or partnering with a senior leader, and you know how to bring stakeholders along on decisions, timelines, and tradeoffs.
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments and work quickly, but thoughtfully.
  • You're energized by being part of a team that asks hard questions, supports each other, and pushes to keep improving.
  • You're inspired by science and see the transformational potential of biomedical research. You don't need to have recruited for life sciences before, but you're genuinely curious about it and excited to build expertise here.

In this position you will

  • Own the full cycle recruiting process for a portfolio of roles across Operations and Life Science functional groups.
  • Build robust pipelines through active multi-channel sourcing, resume screening, interviewing, and offer closing.
  • Build strong relationships with a wide range of hiring managers across functions and seniority levels, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the recruiting process, including setting clear expectations, influencing interview and evaluation decisions, and keeping stakeholders aligned and accountable.
  • Contribute to building and iterating on efficient, scalable recruiting processes alongside the broader recruiting team.
  • Represent Arc's mission and values with every candidate interaction.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full cycle recruiting experience; in-house recruiting experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience owning a diverse portfolio of roles across functions and levels
  • Strong sourcing and closing skills, with a track record of attracting and converting passive candidates
  • Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders across functions and levels, including senior leaders, with confidence and credibility
  • Track record of acting as a true hiring partner — setting expectations, pushing back constructively when needed, and guiding hiring managers through the full recruiting process
  • Proficiency with an ATS (Greenhouse or similar) and a commitment to data integrity
  • Familiarity with sourcing and CRM tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter and Gem
  • Strong analytical mindset and exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and wearing many hats in a growing organization
  • Collaborative, calm under pressure, and energized by team success
  • Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding hiring goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The base salary range for this position is $120,000-$148,000. These amounts reflect the range of base salary that the Institute reasonably would expect to pay a new hire or internal candidate for this position. The actual base compensation paid to any individual for this position may vary depending on factors such as experience, market conditions, education/training, skill level, and whether the compensation is internally equitable, and does not include bonuses, commissions, differential pay, other forms of compensation, or benefits. This position is also eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus, with the amount dependent on individual and institute performance factors.
