About the role:

As the Renewal Underwriting Manager, you'll be responsible for leading and empowering a team of experienced underwriters who handle mid-term and renewal business. You will focus on driving a strong balance between profitability (rate get) and customer retention, ensuring we maintain a stable, growing portfolio in line with company targets.

You’ll bring strategic thinking to portfolio management, build data-informed renewal strategies, and coach underwriters to make consistently sound decisions in dynamic market conditions.

Nirvana has a globally distributed workforce. Our ideal candidate will be based in the Eastern or Central time zone.

What you’ll do:

  • Leading and engaging a team of 4-6 experienced Underwriters Collaborate with Business Development team to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets 

  • Interact with key external partners including agents and brokers 

  • Manage team workflow including referral setting and authority 

  • Partner with leadership team to deliver strategies and projects necessary for long term innovation

About you:

  • 7-10 years of Underwriting experience, minimum of 3 years in people management

  • Proven success Underwriting in the transportation sector, preferably trucking 

  • Experience managing a distributed team is a plus 

  • Comfort setting and executing against team goals

  • Strong communication skills, both written & verbal

  • Thorough critical thinker who isn’t afraid to make decisions

  • Successfully able to work in high-growth & ambiguous start-up environments

  • Willingness to travel as needed
