Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking to fill our Robotics Integration Engineer positions based in Santa Clara, CA. This role is fully onsite.
Purpose:
The Robotics Integration Engineer will support development, sustaining, and management of the OTTAVA™ Surgical Robotic System.
Your will be responsible for:
- Planning and execution of systems technical ownership activities, including bring up, maintenance, and configuration management.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, robotics controls and software engineers in root-cause analysis and documentation of design, manufacturing and algorithmic flaws in order to increase subsystem reliability.
- Operate the system during clinical labs, fix and resolve known issues, document novel issues that arise during system use, perform SW installation and smoke testing, and provide complex engineering test support for R&D applications.
- Influence OTTAVA™'s capabilities and shape the future of surgical robotics!

Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field, including Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Software, Biomedical, Mechatronics, Systems, or Robotics Engineering.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
- Proven understanding of programming concepts and ability to modify existing code (C++, python, etc.).
- Fundamental understanding across software, controls, robotics, mechanical, and electrical engineering, with ability to quickly come up to speed in new technical areas.
- Must understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and other related user documentation.
- Experience partitioning and decomposing sophisticated engineering problems into solvable problems.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal strengths in leading projects.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with software-controlled mechanical systems preferred.
- Previous projects developing robotic systems preferred.
- Experience with development in a Linux environment preferred.
- Experience in regulated industry preferred.
Travel:
- Up to 10% travel in the U.S.
