About Us
At Encord, we're building the AI infrastructure of the future. The biggest challenge AI companies face today is not nearly as glamorous as the outside world may think: it's all about data quality. In fact, the success of any AI application today relies on the quality of a model's training data. For 95% of teams, this essential step is both the most costly, and the most time-consuming in getting their product to market.

As ex-computer scientists, physicists, and quants, we felt first-hand how the lack of tools to prepare quality training data was impeding the progress of building AI. AI today is what the early days of computing or the internet were like, where the potential of the technology is clear, but the tools and processes surrounding it are still primitive, preventing the next generation of applications. This is why we started Encord.

We are a team of 100+, working at the cutting edge of multimodal and visual AI. Encord is backed by top investors, including CRV, Y Combinator, and Next47, leading industry executives like Luc Vincent, former VP of AI at Meta, and other Bay Area AI leaders. We are one the fastest growing companies in our space, and consistently rated as the best product in the market by our customers. We have big plans ahead and are looking for an ambitious Sales Director to join us in building our team.

What can you expect?
- You'll start off by being one of the first quota-carriers at one of the fastest growing AI tooling startups and really "learn by doing", reporting to our Head of US Sales & working alongside the co-founders and leadership team. When successful in the role, you'll have the opportunity to build out the US commercial team
- You’ll run the engine for our US revenue growth, learning how to take a product to market and scale to $millions in ARR by actually doing it.
- You'll navigate complex sales cycles with the world's leading mid-market and enterprise tech businesses (from fast growing startups to Fortune 500s teams).
- You'll manage your sales pipeline, close deals, and work with our Head of US on GTM strategy as we expand our ideal customer profile and find success in other sectors. Ideally, you'll grow to manage a geography/sector/team within your first 12 months.
- You'll become the best person in the company at explaining and pitching our product.
- You’ll work more broadly across the business, representing us at ambassadorial events, managing our most senior relationships in region, and stepping up to help with marketing, events, community, onboarding customers, and whatever else needs to be done
- You will build and maintain close relationships across product, engineering, and customer success, helping shape our roadmap, & experiencing first-hand how great products & great businesses are built.

About you
You're ambitious, competitive, and care lots about your career. You're probably happiest when working really hard and solving challenging problems/winning deals. You know this requires dedication & some sacrifice but you think it's worth it. You want to rise faster than would be possible in any 'normal' career and you're happy to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is required.

- You have 7-12 years of experience succeeding in GTM roles in B2B SaaS companies, in which several years have been as a high-performing quota carrier.
- You're entrepreneurial and you want to be a part of building a business.
- You have good commercial intuition, and the ability to build rapport, influence people and drive change, whether it's with a distinguished exec or a junior operator. You can get on well with anyone and have the gravitas to sell to senior leadership (eg. CTOs) or the ability to learn quickly.
- You want to become exceptional at Sales and you’re looking for a company that can offer you that growth and learning opportunity to enable you to become a future leader.
- You’ve consistently performed in the top percentile of whatever environment you’ve been in, whether in academia, business, sport, sales team, or whatever else you've put your mind to.

What we Offer
- Competitive salary, commission and equity in a hyper growth startup.
- Real opportunities to grow. We’re growing insanely fast and you’ll have all the opportunities for growth that you can handle.
- Strong in person culture. We're 3-5 days a week in our newly-launched loft office in North Beach.
- Flexible PTO to recharge.
- Annual learning and development budget.
- 18 Paid Vacation Days in the US + federal holidays.
- Lots of opportunities for travel (all around the US, to London & Europe).
- Bi-annual off-sites, company lunches twice a week, and monthly socials.
- Health, dental and vision insurance.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
