About Us:
At Parafin, we’re on a mission to grow small businesses.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but traditional banks often don’t have their backs. We build tech that makes it simple for small businesses to access the financial tools they need through the platforms they already sell on.
We partner with companies like DoorDash, Amazon, Worldpay, and Mindbody to offer fast and flexible funding, spend management, and savings tools to their small business users via a simple integration. Parafin takes on all the complexity of capital markets, underwriting, servicing, compliance, and customer service for our partners.
We’re a tight-knit team of innovators hailing from Stripe, Square, Plaid, Coinbase, Robinhood, CERN, and more — all united by a passion for building tools that help small businesses succeed. Parafin is backed by prominent venture capitalists including GIC, Notable Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Ribbit Capital, and Thrive Capital. Parafin is a Series C company, and we have raised more than $194M in equity and $340M in debt facilities.
Join us in creating a future where every small business has the financial tools they need.
About the Position
We are expanding our GTM technical team and seeking a Sales Engineer to act as the technical lead for our prospective platform partners. In this role, you will guide partners through technical discovery, integration scoping, and solution design during the pre-sales process, ensuring a smooth handoff to post-sales implementation.
You will work at the intersection of sales, partner engineering, product, and engineering, helping partners understand how Parafin’s embedded financial products fit into their platform architecture and business goals. You’ll also play a key role in shaping Parafin’s technical pre-sales motion as we scale.
You will report to the Partner Engineering Manager and be a part of Parafin’s Revenue function, collaborating closely with Sales, Platform Growth, Product, and Engineering.
What You’ll Do:
Lead technical discovery and pre-sales scoping with prospective partners and their engineering teams, serving as the primary technical point of contact through the sales cycle
Design and communicate integration approaches for Parafin’s financial products, balancing partner constraints, scalability, and time to launch
Present technical solutions to a range of audiences, from engineering to C-suite stakeholders, clearly articulating tradeoffs, ROI, and implementation considerations
Build product-quality demos, reference implementations, and proofs of concept to demonstrate feasibility and partner fit
Develop integration architectures, diagrams, and technical documentation to support smooth transitions to post-sales implementation teams
Create sales enablement materials and demo tooling that help the broader GTM team sell more effectively
Identify product gaps, edge cases, and recurring partner needs, and collaborate with Product and Engineering to influence product roadmap, improve platform capabilities, and optimize the sales cycle.
Help define and refine technical pre-sales processes, tooling, and best practices as Parafin’s Sales Engineering function grows
Act as a trusted technical advisor to prospective partners, helping them understand how embedded finance can unlock value for them, and their small business customers
Contribute to building a scalable, repeatable technical sales motion that supports Parafin’s growth trajectory

Comfortable reading and navigating a modern codebase to:

Understand API behavior and error handling
Collaborate with Engineering on feasibility questions
Review partner code samples and provide feedback
Note: You won't own production code, but should be comfortable in GitHub/IDEs
Experience creating realistic demos, POCs, or reference applications that support customer understanding and decision-making
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong judgment around when to go deep technically and when to keep things high-level, depending on the partner and stage of the deal
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and contribute to building scalable GTM processes
Passion for helping small businesses succeed and interest in embedded financial products
Nice to have
Experience with React and/or Scala
Background in fintech, payments, or embedded finance
Prior experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS or API-first company
