We are looking for an experienced SAP Basis consultant to act as a performance advisor for complex SAP landscapes. This is an advisory role rather than hands-on system administration: the focus is on analysing environments and providing expert recommendations that optimise system performance and ensure compatibility with specialised transformation tools.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team delivering large-scale SAP initiatives, including data migrations, carve-outs, data deletions, upgrades and transformations. Your recommendations will directly shape how efficiently and safely these projects run.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse SAP system landscapes and identify performance bottlenecks.

• Provide expert recommendations to customers on system configuration and optimisation.

• Advise on the changes required to ensure optimal performance of external tools and processes.

• Review architecture across SAP versions and database platforms.

• Guide best practices for:

– System performance tuning

– Data volume management (excluding archiving strategies)

• Support planning activities for data migrations, system carve-outs, and upgrades and transformations.

• Collaborate with technical and functional teams to align recommendations with project goals.

• Provide input on database-level considerations across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and SAP HANA.

• Assist in analysing ABAP-related performance issues (traces, dumps and inefficient programs).

Required skills & experience

• Strong background in SAP Basis architecture and performance optimisation.

• Experience across multiple SAP versions (ECC, S/4HANA, etc.).

• Deep understanding of database platforms: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and SAP HANA.

• Working knowledge of ABAP performance analysis.

• Proven experience in SAP projects involving data migrations, carve-outs and system upgrades.

• Ability to assess complex landscapes and provide clear, actionable recommendations.

Strong understanding of key SAP tables and data structures – particularly the large-volume tables that dominate performance and data-intensive operations:

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in S/4HANA conversions or transformation programmes.

• Exposure to SAP functional processes (FI, MM, SD, etc.).

• Experience advising clients in high-impact or large-scale environments.

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
