Job Description
 

The Inflammation Biology group at Gilead Sciences (Foster City, CA) is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our research group. The successful candidate will contribute to the discovery, research, and development of novel therapeutics to address clinical unmet need in type 2 inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. As a member of cross-functional teams, the candidate will use state-of-the-art technologies and innovative methodologies to support drug development, and help identify and evaluate novel targets in inflammation. The candidate will have opportunities for career growth in a fast-paced and resource-rich environment. Title will be commensurate with industrial experience and previous track record of research article/patent publication.

 

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will work within a project team-based structure to support advancement of early drug discovery programs. Responsibilities will include:

  • Independently design, conduct, and analyze in vitro experiments to support target validation and therapeutic hypotheses. Support in vivo models and ex vivo analyses.

  • Manage work on multiple projects simultaneously and work cross-functionally with colleagues in other research departments.

  • Present findings and recommendations to project teams and senior staff, contribute to research reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts, and support the preparation of IND and patent filings.

  • Proactively evaluate new technologies, develop new assays, and generate scientific hypotheses to enhance our understanding of disease pathogenesis.

  • Work cross-functionally with colleagues in inflammation biology, biochemistry, structural and medicinal chemistry, and bioinformatic teams.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

  • 0+ Years with PhD; PhD plus postdoctoral training preferred.

  • 4+ Years relevant industry experience with MS; 10+ Years relevant industry experience preferred.

  • 6+ Years relevant industry experience with BS; 12+ Years relevant industry experience preferred.

  • Proficient in cellular immunology, including immune cell culture, multi-color flow cytometric analysis, and quantification of protein and/or RNA in immune cells and tissues.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills and strong organizational skills are required.

  • Proficient in GraphPad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

The salary range for this position is: $146,540.00 - $189,640.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
