WORK TYPE: Full Time-Seasonal, non-exempt

LOCATION DETAILS: Remote within Region- US

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Event travel and attendance at staff meetings trainings is required. Event travel will include overnight stays for events. As part of the event operations team during the event season which runs from October thru May, this role is expected to be available to work 3-4 weekends per month. 

COMPENSATION: $20 an hour

Pay rate will vary based on criteria such as education, experience and qualifications of the applicant, location, internal equity, and alignment with the market. 

Location: This position is available to candidates who are local to Varsity Spirit division offices in the following regions: 

  • Gainesville, FL 
  • Louisville, KY 
  • Baltimore, MD 
  • Houston, TX 
  • Phoenix, AZ

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT  

Scoring Support Specialist reports to the National Scoring Director. Event travel and attendance at staff meetings & training is required. The Scoring Support Specialist is an important member of our Varsity All Star Scoring team, responsible for answering judges and customer scoring questions before, during and after all Varsity All Star. 

 A Scoring Support Specialist will represent Varsity Brands by demonstration of company core values in driving the highest ethical standards of conduct in all business activities. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO 

  • Assist with staffing judges Varsity All Star events in their region using Salesforce/UKG
  • Works closely with the Regional offices to ensure the proper number of judging panels are supplied for each event
  • Assist Judge Operations Specialist (JOS) to confirm judges for Varsity All Star event, along with assisting with securing travel arrangements
  • Follows up with judges post event that need additional training based on knowledge-based issues
  • Plays a supporting role in Judges Training/Curriculum
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Varsity All Star judges
  • Assist with managing travel for ALL judge staff
  • Assist Scoring Experience Specialist with all post event scoring concerns from events
  • Assist Scoring Experience Specialist following up with AccuScore Officials post event to identify the most frequently asked questions that need additional coaches and/or judges training
  • Works with the Scoring Experience Specialist to provide additional training to judges that need it
  • Informs the National Scoring Director of any major scoring issues that affected rankings/bids at events
  • Works with the JOS to verify Judge timesheets
  • Works with the JOS to verify Judge compliance and training is completed 

Additional Job Functions: 

  • Serves in a support role at events
  • Work End of Season Events in a Scoring Role
  • MUST be available to work some combination of in-person at these MAJOR events, which include but not limited to the following:
    • “Select” World Bid Events (based on event participation)
    • U.S. Finals (based on event participation)
    • Regional Summit (based on event participation)
    • Youth Summit, Summit, or D2 Summit

QUALIFICATIONS  

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES  

  • Fluent in current scoring system.
  • Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Strong fluency in Microsoft Excel and Google Forms.
  • High level of customer service acumen.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to handle unexpected customer issues effectively.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

  • Experience in and knowledge of current and previous scoring systems. 
  • Experience in the cheer and dance industry is preferred. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  

  • While not participating in an event this job operates in a professional office environment. Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. Ability to sit or stand for long periods through meetings and while operating office equipment, PC’s, laptop, telephone will be required. 
  • During events the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (5 hours plus) is required. The ability to communicate with customers and colleagues using the following but not limited to radio, walkie talkie, text message and email is required. 
  • The ability to lift, bend, push, pull and manipulate equipment that is a minimum of 30 lbs. is required.
