About the Role
e.l.f. Cosmetics is currently looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative Senior Accountant to join our dynamic, high-growth beauty company to support the Naturium brand. This newly created role will report directly to the Manager, Accounting, Naturium.
This Senior Accountant role will be responsible for the execution of our month-end close activities for Revenue and Sales Adjustments. In this role, you will work closely with Sales teams to accurately report monthly allowances through discussions with cross functional partners, reviewing contracts, and calculating estimates. Additionally, this role will prepare general ledger related accounting activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, account fluctuations, and financial audits.
The ideal candidate has a CPA and brings 3-5 years of experience in Accounting, including audit experience from a global or national accounting firm. Public company experience as well as CPG experience is a plus. This individual should be a self-starter with a strong financial accounting background and a passion for process improvements. This individual should be comfortable working with cross functional partners and should have strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. This position can be based in any of our west coast e.l.f. offices (Oakland or L.A.).
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly sales allowance accruals, account reconciliations, and other related accounting entries
- Partner with Sales teams to develop retailer specific estimates for monthly allowances (e.g. markdowns)
- Prepare quarterly lag analysis and rate analysis for the general reserve
- Reviews new customer contracts
- Review monthly allowances and deductions with Sales Teams
- Perform month end tasks and reconciliations related to D2C sales channels including revenue deferrals (e.g. loyalty programs)
- Work closely with AR and deductions teams and report key insights and KPIs to management regularly
- Continually implement process improvements in day-to-day activities
- Assist in assuring effectiveness of control environment for Sales Allowance activities. Includes compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, and Delegation of Authority requirements. Ensure compliance with company policies (e.g. Financial, Procurement, etc.)
- Provides outside auditors with assistance and gathers necessary documentation for quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
- Support team on other month-end close procedures, as assigned
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3-5 years in accounting, including audit experience from a global or a national accounting firm
- CPA Required
- CPG experience and experience with major retailers is required
- Public company is a plus
- Strong financial accounting understanding
- Comfortable working with cross functional partners including upper-level management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good understanding of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition with emphasis on consideration payable to a customer.
