We are looking for a highly motivated, curious and diligent Senior Accountant to join our revenue accounting team. This role will be responsible for executing critical close work streams related to Flex’s order-to-cash process, including revenue, accounts receivable, and COGS. In this role, you will be expected to challenge the status quo and enhance existing processes, documentation and controls. You’ll be tasked with developing high-quality accounting work papers and analysis that ensure our financial results are complete and accurate on a monthly basis, and will also be involved in helping to design future state processes leveraging technology. We are looking for a candidate with a solid understanding of the business, strong communication and problem solving skills, and expertise working with data analysis/reconciliation across multiple systems utilizing relevant software tools. The ideal candidate has a solid grasp of the most up-to-date U.S. GAAP standards including ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts with Customers, is knowledgeable about business process design and internal controls, and has previous experience working with external auditors. They are an analytical problem solver who enjoys working cross-functionally and is excited to learn and grow in a dynamic, fast-paced fintech environment. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting and will be located in our New York headquarters on a hybrid basis.
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of revenue accounting close process for assigned areas, including daily interaction with business partners and external auditors
- Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance legacy documentation
- Investigate reporting discrepancies and effectively escalate and communicate issues to relevant stakeholders on a timely basis
- Assist in the calculation, preparation and communication of revenue and margin results to accounting and finance leadership
- Continually improve business processes through automation, thoughtful analysis, and researching or benchmarking standard processes inside and outside of the company
- Ensure data integrity and compliance for assigned accounts across all relevant systems, proactively engaging with relevant partners to reconcile and resolve data gaps and work towards a single source of truth for transactional data
- Support ongoing business operations and future expansion by partnering with cross-functional teams including Sales, Strategic Finance, Treasury, Data Science and Product
- Assist in the company’s SOX readiness journey, developing robust documentation for key revenue accounting processes/controls that will meet the requirements of both internal and external auditors.
- Assist in other assigned department-related tasks including special projects, ERP implementation, and other ad hoc analyses as necessary.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA (earned or in progress)
- 3-5 years relevant experience; public accounting experience highly preferred. Fintech experience is a strong plus.
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of U.S. GAAP, with particular emphasis on ASC 606
- Experience with financial reporting and financial statement preparation, including variance analysis and footnote disclosures.
- Desire to operate in a high-growth, fast-paced tech environment; comfortable with ambiguity and multiple priorities.
- Thinks and acts like an owner; proactively identifies opportunities for improvements and proposes a path to resolution.
- Excellent communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external business partners at various levels.
- Tech-savvy and MS excel superuser; must be comfortable working with and analyzing large data sets.
- Experience working with various accounting systems including ERP (NetSuite, SAP, Sage, or similar), Blackline/Floqast, Alteryx and other AI-based accounting tools
- Growth mindset; looking for someone who aspires to grow with Flex and is willing to stretch beyond the initial scope of the role and take on new challenges as the business evolves.
Flex takes a market-based approach to pay, ensuring compensation is commensurate with a candidate's experience and our internal leveling guidelines. For candidates located in our Tier 1 markets (NYC/ SF), the base salary pay range for this role is $112,000—$140,000 USD.
For all other U.S. locations, Flex utilizes a geographic pay differential based on a cost of labor index. If you are located outside of the Tier 1 states listed above, your starting pay will be adjusted to align with the market conditions of your specific geographic zone.
