Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant for a 10-month remote assignment. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience working with Canadian accounting practices and currency transactions, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment. This role will support month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial statements and investigate variances.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Support financial reporting and management reporting processes.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with audit requests and documentation preparation.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and foreign currency accounting as needed.
  • Process and review transactions involving Canadian currency (CAD) and related exchange rate adjustments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior-level accounting role.
  • Experience working with Canadian accounting practices, financial reporting, and Canadian currency transactions.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Preferred
  • Experience working in multinational or cross-border business environments.
  • Knowledge of foreign currency accounting and intercompany accounting.
  • Experience with IFRS and/or Canadian accounting standards.
