Who We Are

Hyperbolic Labs is on a mission to democratize AI by breaking down the barriers to computing power with our Open-Access AI Cloud. By aggregating computing resources across the globe, we offer an innovative GPU marketplace and AI inference service that promise affordability and accessibility for all. As pioneers at the intersection of AI and open-source technology, we believe in an open future where AI innovation is limited only by imagination, not by access to resources. We're looking for forward-thinking individuals who share our passion for making AI universally accessible, secure, and affordable. Join us in building a platform that empowers innovators everywhere to turn their visionary AI projects into reality.

As we prepare for growth after our Series A, our team — led by co-founders with PhDs in AI, Math, and Computer Science — is poised to redefine computing.

About the Role

We're seeking our first Accountant to establish and own the financial operations foundation for Hyperbolic as we scale our GPU marketplace and AI infrastructure business. This is a foundational role where you'll build accounting processes from the ground up, manage day-to-day financial operations, and work closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. You'll be responsible for the full accounting cycle, from accounts payable and receivable to month-end close and financial reporting, while helping us navigate the unique challenges of operating a two-sided marketplace with hundreds of GPU suppliers and thousands of customers.

In this role, you'll own general ledger accounting and reconciliations, manage accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, prepare monthly financial statements and reports, coordinate with our external accounting firm and auditors, establish and document accounting policies and internal controls, handle sales tax compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions, and support financial planning and budgeting processes. You'll work cross-functionally with our engineering, product, and operations teams to ensure billing accuracy, revenue recognition, and financial data integrity as we process payments between customers and suppliers at scale. This is a high-impact opportunity to build the accounting function at a fast-growing AI infrastructure startup.

Who You Are
  • 8+ years of accounting experience with strong foundation in full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, general ledger, and month-end close

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred

  • Deep understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting standards

  • Experience with quickbooks and implementing AI accounting systems

  • Strong Excel skills and financial modeling experience

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional accuracy in data entry, reconciliations, and financial reporting

  • Self-starter mentality with ability to build processes and systems from scratch in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders

  • Comfortable working collaboratively across teams and building relationships with external partners (auditors, tax advisors, banking partners)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a high-growth technology startup or SaaS company

  • Familiarity with marketplace or two-sided platform business models and their unique accounting challenges

  • Knowledge of revenue recognition standards (ASC 606) for subscription and usage-based businesses

  • Experience with sales tax compliance, nexus determination, and multi-state tax reporting

  • Background working with external accounting firms and managing audit processes

  • Experience implementing or improving accounting systems, tools, and automation

  • Familiarity with venture-backed startups and their financial reporting requirements

  • Interest in technology and AI with desire to understand the business deeply

Hyperbolic is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
